I have a question to which might make the movie better in my eyes. Should i or shouldnt i think this movie is like G1 because they brought back so much G1 goodness,or should i try to forget G1 ever happened and think of this as a whole new thing. It might be good to think of my old G1 buddies on screen, but then I might be disappointed. plz i need opinions ....

I wouldnt compare it to G1. Think of it as a new "reincarnation" of Transformers. Like Beast Wars were completely different from G1 or Energon from Armada or now the new Animated series from Cybertron. Transformers as the whole universe is constantly changing with the times so we should follow. If you think of the movie in that light you abslutely gonna LOVE IT! Trust me

Take it as a G1 inspired movie there's some G1 nods there that you'll recognize right away but it's not G1.

As explaned with storylines based in Transformers 'Universe' - there are multiple parallel TF universes - so the idea of 2 'G1s' happining in or around same time frame is fine.

The TF mythos has the whole ' multi-dimensional' thing going on.

Why do you have to forget G1 exists? This is just another new incarnation of Transformers, just like Headmasters, Beast Wars, Armada, Robots In Disguise, etc. It isn't G1, but if you want to be technical, it is inspired by G1.

ok this movie is not G1 will not be G1 and thank god for that. Look I am in my 30's grew up with G1 and still love it to this day but this movie is another continuity all of its own and that is how it should be IN MY OPINION

I haven't seen it yet (will tonight), but from what I've heard all the best qualities that each character has in the cartoon are still present in the live action movie. So, my guess is it's good to go with an open mind.

I don't like some of the movie designs but I solely watched to see and hear Cullen as Optimus...and man, the memories came flooding back whenever Optimus was on screen.

This is NOT G1 so if the original Transformers is your cup of tea and your preference to what Transformers are and should be, then you will dislike this movie.

Matter of fact, I would caution you to NOT bring any friends along who only like the G1 Transformers because they might get pissed at the movie. And won't understand why it looks like it does.

Overall, it is a totally different re-invention and I personally question what it really has in common with Transformers at all other than Cullen. But he's not even the Same Optimus Prime. And the Truck is different and it has garrish flames that make NO SENSE. Sure they change modes, but that is it. They also use a stupid generic drilling noise to do it, and the "Decepticons" have no personalities. Then there is mutabee who can't talk. To me, it isn't Transformers. Not by a long shot.

Not even if your generation is RiD or even one of the Cybertron Trilogies, this won't feel like Transformers to you.

This has been a friendly post on a friendly fan forum so no attacks by passionate viewers please. :)

Think of it as an alternate universe Transformers. Just like the G1 show wasn’t the same as the Marvel comics witch are different then the modern comics.

Even if you don't like Transformers you will like this movie.

My fiance doesn't know anything about TFs and she really liked the movie.

I thought the movie was incredible.

Except for the new characters ( all decepticons ), you can think of all the TFs as their G1 selves. The characterization fits them all. As for look, story, and everything else, think of it all as something new.
