I've got no idea what I wanna do with my life, I'm 24 so I need to decide soon. Sadly I work at walmart doing overnight maintenance, fancy term for janitorial work. I could never be like some of the guys I work with, been there doing overnight maintenance for 15 years. But unlike most of them I have a High School Diploma I just need to get my life organized and get into community college and pick a career path to train for then try to get into a real University. Problem is it's hellishly expensive.
I'm working as a barman at major venues hosting concerts\live shows at the moment, occasionally play music on a pub and generally work in nightclubs. It was just a job I picked up years ago when I was still in school, and I've been doing it for 4-5 years. I've studied Multimedia applications in computing and that's where I'm planning to get to in the coming year.
I'm almost 26 and was on track as far as schooling goes. I've always tried to not skip a beat, especially when I didn't know what I wanted to do. I just took general classes when I was indecisive about things. Now I'm a Highway Designer and currently I'm in Salt Lake City on a TDY assignment, originally from Tampa. In college I was originally a Mechanical Engineering major, but I realized I didn't like math that much so I switched over to Civil Engineering. I always wanted to be involved with the automotive industry, but that didn't happen. Although, I am kind of indirectly tied to it, what good are cars if they're no roads to drive on?
I am the radiation specialist for a major underground construction company. We design safe, effective structures that protect the occupants from exterior events.
Research chemist for one of the biggest companies in the world. So, I'm really putting my Master's degree in Education (English) to good use. I specialize in finding solutions to treat natural and recycled water sources.
Right now, I'm doing office work at a community college during the summer, then, hopefully, I'll be going back to university full-time. Thinking about becoming a physical therapy tech, but not sure.
I was a nano-filtration specialist working with whey products. Then I was a stay at home dad for a few years. Kids are all in school, so now I work at the local hospital in the enviromental services department. I get to wear scrubs and eat cafe food, so i'm pretty happy. Not what I thought i'd be doing, but until I decide what I want to do, it'll work.
I'd say call me in 15 yrs when you officially work for "Cougar"...but then I realized I wouldn't qualify for your services by that time ...call me anyway
Commercial and industrial painter. We paint everything and anything. Schools, nursing homes, water treatment, food packing plants. Everything along those Lines. easy money.
So you're the one i keep seeing around the city with White Out and a belt full of erasers? just kidding. had a neighbor who was a CO at a place we called "The Blue Roof Inn" a jail with a bright blue, well, roof. he was 6'3", 280lbs and in the time he worked there, he only got dropped twice. once during training when they first adopted CS (pepper) gas, and by a person half his size who had enough PCP to stomp King Kong. he said those were the moments he wanted to quit. so, talking to him, i learned not to disrespect the people that do the work. (well, if they just say, "corrections", lol.)
Private Drumming Instructor. I was in quite a few bands that toured all over the US, but when 2000 rolled around I decided that I hated playing in bars and smelling like sweat and cigarette smoke at the end of every day. So I started teaching, and now I'm a founding member of the Greater Johnstown School of Music.
I work in a photo lab, and I've been in retail for thirteen years--I've hated every second of it, and so it isn't what I want to do in the least. But, well, sometimes reality has a way of kicking you in the pants and so you have to shrug and go with things as they are. I'd say my real job involves things like making those who mean the most smile, though. That, and making stuff up.
I work at Tim Horton's. 'Least, for now. But, that is not actually making me a living right now (I'm part-time) - I'm going to go to college for animation. Maybe own my own studio someday, maybe just turn into one of those jaded old animators I keep hearing about from the industry guys. Either way the only other things I want to do are all at least semi-related to the field. I live to draw.
After several years working in management with one of the best quick servie restaraunts, I just recently left and am training for cellular sales.
