All of those listed except sweet potato fries or tots.. I love sweet potatoes but never when the word fried is put in front.

Not surprised my pick wasn't an option. When I was a kid in the 80s, and we went to Wendy's, their fries had to be accompanied by a frostee to dip them in. MickyD's had to be accompanied with their sweet and sour sauce; but while good, not as eventfully satisfying as the fry/ice cream combo.

Perhaps this weekend I'll take a trip down memory lane.

I very strongly prefer fresh cut fries like at 5 Guys etc. Also like some places potato wedges, but again when they are coated and fried fresh, not the frozen ones.

Honestly I could go for any of those except steak fries. Thanks to my local diner I've come to rather hate them. Although douse them in gravy or BBQ sauce and I can eat them easily.

Steak Fries- crisp. There is nothing more disappointing than flaccid steak fries.

There's no right answer here, but let me just put forward an alternative I don't think I've heard yet. Thick cut square fries, potato skin still on, deep fried in pure duck fat, dusted with steak spice, and then served with a garlic chipotle aioli.

I've heard duck fat fries are awesome. There was a joint around here that claimed to have them so I went there all on my birthday all excited but they weren't real french fries - more like diced potatoes fried up. Sad!

This is a terribly difficult choice. So much depends on the preparer, the situation, the accompanying meal....

It is easier to knock out a couple. Like Sweet Potato Fries... which aren't potatoes, and only qualify as "fries" in the same way as Burger King's Chicken Fries. Or seasoned. I've had great seasoned fries, some that would shoot to the top of the list, but far more often, I get seasoned fries from a place and just think, "Oh, I wish they had just lightly salted these and left off the fancier stuff."

For, I love the potato, the tuber, the tater, the spud... God's carbohydrate gift to us.

Nope, can't pick. When the glory of the potato meets the wonder of deep frying, there is so little that is not good in at least some way.

Fries were the first solid food I ever learned to eat, back at an old diner that has since become an apartment. Personally, I like most kind of fries except Sweet Potato, Chili Cheese and McDonalds fries. But the best, the absolute best, are those made during fairs/Carnivals/Homecoming, with salt and vinegar.
