From the initial pics that were released, I thought this figure looked horrid, but these have changed my opinion: He's not as "fat" and the proportions are pretty good. Moreover, the pelvic thrust actually adds to his ability to strike dynamic poses. I still don't like the head as much (due to the rabbit ears).

Overall, the Prime looks to be a pleasant surprise although I think if I were to get the mold it would be as Ultra Magnus.

It's definitely a different paradigm than all the folding panels and such found on WFC Optimus.

I really wish the angle on the front of the truck were different so he didn't look so chubby though.

    That's what she said.

The funny thing is that I actually like this a lot more than WFC Prime.

I'm surprised at how good this looks in these pics as opposed to what we saw from Toy Fair and BotCon. He might be a step down from WFC Optimus, but I think it still looks like a pretty good toy. I'm looking forward to getting this now.

Sorry to say but I might just pass on this version. My WFC suits me just fine.

There are fake wheels molded into the back here. They're tilted slightly and have a screw hole running through part of them.

    Thanks for this nice review.
The question now is the size with relative to the WFC prime.
If scale is close then it is worth a buy.

Definitely not as bad as I thought it was going to be judging from the first pics, but definitely not WFC Prime.

i have similar sentiments, he does have a simpler look, the original wfc prime had insanely complex engineering, perhaps the most complex delux toy so far??

Request, Truck mode picture from the back and the bottom. And any transformation picture that shows something not seen on the pictures before.

Man, is it just me, or does he seem like a more Classics-style interpretation of TFA Optimus, at least in bot mode?

Either way, really awesome and better than I was expecting. May not pick him up for myself, but I've got a friend who loves Optimus, so this may find its way into her collection.

As long as it's not under the Prime line, it'll be fine.

I already do that with WFC Prime

Personally just going to give Prime to my nephew (and keep Shockwave and Jazz :sly2: ) when my 3 pack from BBTS comes in and have Ultra Magnus be the representative of that mold for my collection.

I like 'im. Course I'm not a 'size queen' concerned with scale or the loss of 'heft' to these nearly as much as some. I get that the action figure collectible of the modern era is dealing with ever increasing manufacturing costs and companies seeking maximum profits with minimum investment on the front end. That being said, of the 'cost cutting' and money saving companies out there Hasbro consistently puts out a stellar product, so I'm willing to forgive other slights. Is FOC Optimus a great toy- no. But he does the job and like I said at the start, I like 'im a lot.

But then you'd have people complaining about wasting paint apps. I don't think it's that big of a deal. Why have then in there at all? I see it as making the figure more model accurate and adding in some detail to that area. The people who want to have that detail painted and called out are usually the type to add more paint anyways.

    Randy!
