I've been looking at the retail and SDCC versions of the Fall of Cybertron Combaticons figures, and noticed that Onslaught is more game-accurate in his retail form, but Blast Off and Vortex are more accurate in their SDCC versions. Swindle seems to be somewhere in between, and I think Brawl is more accurate in his SDCC figure, but I'm not entirely sure. Could somebody tell me about Swindle and Brawl? Thanks in advance!
Looking at pictures, I would say the SDCC versions are more accurate for all of them but Onslaught. I think he got done in grey for the SDCC version so that he'd look more game accurate in torso mode - in the game, Bruticus's torso is predominantly grey thanks to a chest-wing thing that the toy doesn't have, so Onslaught's toy ended up grey rather blue to try and give the same effect...
you can go either way for both. i'd recommend getting the SDCC version (provided you have the money) and just pick up those three from retail or request someone to switch those three. i'm picking up Onslaught so i can see if he looks better. plus i can never have too many Onslaughts
Thanks guys. I'm trying to collect the video games figures, and want to do so in the most accurate way, but I also want to save some money! I'll think I'll go retail on at least Onslaught and Swindle, and I'll get the SDCC versions of Blast Off and Vortex. I'll wait until I have all those figures then before I decide on Brawl.
That is one thing I'm considering, but I've never done a custom before, so I'd like to do it on a cheaper figure first to "test the waters", so to speak. They have really cheap Mini-Cons at my local dollar store, so I'll probably practice on them.
one thing about Onslaught though: either repaint his retail gun, or try to get the SDCC gun cause i don't think you'll want lime green Bruticus cannons
