So I've had a few requests and PM's to do a tutorial on my version of FOC Bruticus, which is a lot bulkier, a little shorter and overall more satisfying (to me) than the official transformation. I apologize for my ******ed camera quality/skills, hopefully it's good enough that you can see what's going on, particularly with Blast-Off...

So here's what we're trying to achieve...

So the main outcome is a more accurate Brawl (although Swindle is sacrificed somewhat to achieve this) and the spindly shoulders are taken care of. He's also now toting a much better set of cannons on his back.

First up is Brawl. Fairly straightforward here, from tank mode it's just a matter of flipping his arms out to form the new feet and turning the turret around.

Next is Swindle. The goal here is to shrink him slightly so that he's the same length as Brawl, who is now shorter than the standard leg mode. So from car mode, extend the legs out, turn the waist 180 degrees, and open the combined mode fists 90 degrees. Then bend the knees while pulling the hood of the car over the silver heel spurs and combined-mode fists, and jam Swindle's hands in under the wheels. Should get something like this:

Next up, Vortex. From standard arm mode, it's just a matter of pulling out the non-rotor arm, pinning the shoulder as if in robot mode, and spinning the arm and forearm around so as to cover the connector point. It also looks better if the waist is collapsed in as other modders have done.

Blastoff is a little odd. First thing to do is unclip the legs and flip them up at the knees 180 degrees so that they're resting next to the cockpit. Also, split the lower legs in half 90 degrees so that is sits against the cockpit like this.

    Blastoff3.JPG

Next, unclip the forearms from the shuttle engine section and position them like this:

    Blastoff4.JPG

So the left arm should be up near the back of the shuttle, and the right arm folded under the shuttle.

    Blastoff2.JPG

Finally, the gun is Swindle's cannon with Brawl's pistol in front and Blastoff's guns on the side of Swindle's. It plugs into the 5mm peg on Blastoff's left arm, like thus.

Onslaught himself doesn't do anything really different besides the forearms (which most people do - I don't think anyone besides Hasbro employees puts them where they're supposed to go), but we do need to do some slicing up to his little green friend.

Basically, we need to cut the handle off the bottom, and the barrels of the cannon itself. Like this:

Next we need to attach a couple of long 5mm posted guns, preferably identical ones. The classics Seekers guns work a treat, and we should all have some spares of those by now, right? So we get an evil green roller like this:

Yep, the Combaticons just got a 6th member. Lets all nerd rage.

As a bonus, the seeker cannons do help to give Onslaught a better alt mode IMHO...

I'm pretty sure everyone can figure out how it all goes together...

Still not perfect but definitely a lot better than the official transformation IMHO. I'm not satisfied with Swindle's clown-shoe mode, so if anyone can figure out a better way to do it I'd love to see it. Bruticus is still dog ugly from behind, but then a lot of Transformers are!

Now all these guys need is a complete top to bottom repaint - really not a fan of the super happy neon colour choice at all.

    DUUUUUUUUDE!!!!

This is fantastic. I don't have one of these yet, but I was really hoping he could be reconfigured with minimal effort into... well, something that doesn't suck.

I hadn't seen anyone really do that yet, so I was beginning to get worried. You just restored my faith in possibilities! :thumb

heh. just got me FOC Bruticus, and yeah... your ideas work BEAUTIFULLY. he feels SO much better now...
but dammit, Swindle feels a bit unstable now as a result. =______=
you figured out anything to do to make Swindle more stable in that form?... he seems to be all weight on the toe... I can't think of anything aside from swapping out his thighs for something longer...
