I finally got my US Vector Prime and I just had to paint him to get all of those cool molded details. I found that a black wash was too intense on the panel lines so I followed it up with two white washes on top. I also added missing gold apps and put some red here and there.

Nice work, I especially like the silver highlights. If there was anything I'd change, it's that the figure still could use some silver paint on the front of the thighd (like the GF release). Regardless, excellent job :thumbs2:  .

Yeah, I was thinking about doing that... but I still wanted to keep it looking like a different deco than the Galaxy force version so I decided to leave it off. I might go back and do it but I'm not sure.

Nice. Looks better than both versions.

Seems to me you did a great job matching the gold and brown colors. Care to share your secret?

Well...I didn't really match the gold. The gold I used was much more metallic and shined much brighter. To make it all match I just went over the factory gold with the new gold. The brown/red on the wings is really a pretty bright red paint. It's the same red I used on his shoulder orbs. The reason it came out the right color on the wings is that it is a very transparent paint and when it blended with the blue underneeth it came out looking right. I did the panel joints on his arms and legs by painting water-based black and wiping it off quickly so only the lines remained. Then I did the same thing with oil-based white (so it wouldn't really mix with the black) over top of the black lines to tone them down a bunch and look more like dirt/wear-and-tear than vivid black lines. Then I covered the whole thing with several layers of Future floor finish to protect it all.

Looks much-much better. I was so disappointed the toy doesn’t look as good as on the back of the box.

True enough, the silver would make it look too similar to the GF release. Perhaps a different color (metallic blue, like on the tops of the shoulders, might look good)?
