So like title says, I'm wondering how the values of transformers g1 toys rose or fell over the years.

Here are a couple main purchases that I made within the last couple of years:

    • G1 Trypticon, loose/complete (Purchased in 2009 for $180. Current value range: $350-$400

    • G1 Fortress Maximus, loose/complete (Purchased in 2008 for $650. Current value range: $1000-$1200)
    • G1 Shockwave, loose/complete. (Purchased in 2009 for $255. Current value range: $120-$150)

I'm pretty sure the KO lowered the price of Shockwave. :(

Most stuff gradually goes up in value. Some less desirable and cheaper items just kind of stay the same. A re-issue of something sometimes causes the price to go down but not always.

Overall they seem like they have risen. However, many of the 84,85 toys have for the most part stayed the same or gone down, same with most of the stuff that has been counterfeited or reissued.

There was a time in the late 90's a mint loose complete G1 Prowl would fetch $125+...now you could find one for half that or less. Conversely the small pretenders like Pincher, Octopunch, etc. could be found MOSC for less then $30...headmasters could be bought loose complete for $25 or less.....not so much now

Saw a an MOSC G1 pre-rub Bumblebee go for $80+ on Ebay around two years ago. I think it would be almost impossible to find one around that price these days.

From what I remember seeing a few years ago, Devastator (G1) seems to be cheaper now. Is that accurate, or am I wrong? I'm looking to buy one now, and some of them can be seen for 100 dollars...while others are still in the 200+ range.

His value fell thanks to the Encore reissue that came out.

Like others have noted...knockoffs and reissues have brought down prices on some, while those with no ko or reissue are still high. I've seen some fluctuation with the movies also (higher prices with movie hype, slightly lower during lulls between movies!)...

There already was one a few years ago. A new reissue is rumored to be released.

I think that it all depends on were you purchase from, also if a transformer has been reissued, for example I purchased a loose complete G2 (yellow) Devastator for $55, of course I did search around first.
