Flamin' Hot Cheetos under fire from schools - CBS News

Besides the often used nutritional reason, school leaders are saying that the snack is highly addictive.

Can you imagine that kids will be soon dealing Flamin` Hot Cheetos in the school yard like drugs? :p

This is one of my favorite snacks....

To quote the wise words of Randy Marsh: "I'm sorry, I thought this was America!".

To be fair, the Cheetos company should have known there would be consequences when they started adding the zesty taste of black tar heroin to their products, even if it was something of a smart business move.

I think this whole "addictive" thing is just a lame excuse for the janitors not wanting to clean up red fingerprints everywhere.

In high school, I sucked handfuls of dill pickle powder.

We sold popcorn at our school...you can have the regular buttered, or for $0.25 more you get a scoop (not sure of the actual measurements) of dill pickle powder.

    Totally serious.

I believe it's the same powder used for Quaker's Crispy Minis-Crunchy Dill.

Here is something that I was wondering.

You're a parent of a child and the child gives you a note from their lecturing you about the food you give him or her for lunch. Will you be thankful to the teacher or will you be upset?

For me, I will be upset.

You know, they wanted to ban chocolate milk in school lunches, too, and I'll say the same thing here that I said then: you can get rid of the Cheetos once you get rid of the sodas and the cookies and the pizzas and everything else that's unhealthy for children first. Getting rid of Cheetos doesn't really solve the problem of kids getting fat.

Also, Cheetos are supposed to be addictive. Otherwise, people won't eat the damn things.

I'd be upset, too. I mean, they're MY kids, so I get to decide what goes into their lunches, not some stupid school administrator. If my kids like Flamin' Hot Cheetos, I'd bag them a thing of Flamin' Hot Cheetos.

They're also addictive! And anything addictive is automatically bad for you! (okay, just most things) Also, our children are eating them! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

I remember in sixth grade, we were only allowed to bring what the school deemed 'healthy' lunches. Since my dad had to go to work super early, he'd drop me off a block away from the school in the morning about an hour before school started and I would totally load up on candy at the nearby convenience store and ran my own little black market at lunch time. At least till I got caught.

as george carlin once said 'you want to help children? LEAVE THEM THE F#$% ALONE!!'

they say kids are smart these days so im sure they can handle themselves...

...or it could turn into something out of the Lord of the Flies...

Eh not such a big loss for those of us not in K-12. Besides Flamin Hot Fritos > Cheetos any day of the week.
