I love Transformers and like Gundam. It's the fact that this IDW's Cyber-Torquemada rather than Victory's Ultimate Honorable Hero of Noble Burning Justice that turns me off. Yeah. classic Star Saber is kind of uber Boy Scoutish, but that's the character.

Wow, I see some very anti-Gundam comments here.

If I can afford him, he's definitely going in my collection. I just love Alex Milne's Star Saber design.

I can see lots and lots of hate for this figure comes from the fact that IDW Saber was drastically different than from Victory.

I like the aesthetics, I like the IDW character. If it does not cost me an arm and a leg I would definitely bite.

Wow looks like they took Milne's design and upped the Gundam influence - looking good, especially when you consider SS's supposed Gundam inspirations.

Well that's nice. You do know that I'm not the one who gave Star Saber his personality in the comics. Now I don't care if you don't like me or my work, but I want to make sure you have correct information and probably you may want to include James Roberts into your description for his personality for he is the writer of the comics, and he decided to make Star Saber like that. If you think I had any input in the story or the characters personality well, that's laughable.

This article confirms that he was indeed the designer of Star Saber:

    Jeeze, it's a toy.
Yeah I'll probably bite. I prefer him as a hero but I like the design. Thank God I can just ignore his characterization and just enjoy the figure.

Goddamn the concept sketch alone looks gorgeous. I know it won\'t transform and I\'ll never be able to afford it, but it\'s cool to see another great Milne design get a high-quality figure.

I was trying to verify that, but came up short. Suprised it's not listed under TFWiki's trivia section, or on Kunio Okawara's Wikipedia entry or something.

Kunio Okawara has absolutely nothing to do with Transformers, let alone Star Saber's design.

G1 Star Saber was wholely designed by Takashi Kunihiro:

I like gundam and transformers.  I think the design looks awesome.
So is this a model kit or just a very detailed non-transforming figure?  I hadn\'t been following what Flame-toys is doing.

Their Drift just went up for pre-order on BBTS. $300. No doubt their Star Saber is as much. Again, the fully transformable Masterpiece Star Saber is still just $150. You could get that and the KFC Simba for about what this Action Master will likely cost.

Insanely priced, non-transforming gundam "transformer". What's not to hate? (I don't actually hate gundams - when they are gundams).

Will we ever see transforming licensed transformers?

Huh... Two different internet pages claiming two different facts. Interesting! :)
Is it possible one did the design and the other the engineering?

I'm really thinking this company will tank in the end. At large, Transformers collectors tend to like TRANSFORMING toys. If they want a $300 price tag, that thing better transform and we already know it won't b/c that's not their thing.
