So yeah... wanted some good model kits of Transformers characters for a long time, so of course I jumped on the Flame Toys ones immediately. Currently I'm working on Prime, and I have Starscream in preorder. Will also grab the IDW ones as well, of course = 3 So here's where I'm at with the Prime painting and assembling: it's gonna be a while before I get everything done but I'd rather take things slow and do it right, than rush things and ruin the figure. I'm mostly doing weathering and paint touch-ups, and use as little as possible of the stickers (really, I just plan to use the shoulderpads Autobot logos). If it goes well, I'll do the same kind of paint-job to the future kits. I started with the weapons: I spray-painted black, did some paint chipping with Tamiya silver and the vents on the blaster with the same color, plus GW Nuln Oil for shadows. The axe's blade is painted with a Vallejo brass gold paint. I wish I've had a more orange-y gold paint for it, but it's better than using the stickers: As for Prime himself I have started working on the legs: the feet are assembled and painted, and so are the knees and tights. For the darker parts I added paint-chipping effects, and the light grey parts I panel-lined with the Nuln Oil and lightly drybrushed with the Tamiya silver, to given them a bit of metal shin. And the "tigh-buttons" with the brass gold again: Oh, right and I've put the rims of the wheels upsided down, for some reason I like it better lol The kit feels pretty good to handle, and the painting is going pretty smoothly. If you try something like this too, just be careful with the articulation parts, even for Gunpla-like kits they're very rubbery and tight. So if/when you clear coat the pieces, cover them, so that unwanted paint doesn't go on them and hinders movement. Alright... back in a few days, when I finished the legs!
I have the nemesis kit and I have to say, these figures are really nice. They make really nice shelf pieces. I ended up stickering mine but damn that looks good.
Aaaand finished the lower body, legs and crotch are all painted and assembled! Also, little bonus pic... had my Striker Manus figure "borrowing" the weapons, since the kit is almost vojager size... look pretty good!
