    Hey all,

Haven't seen this posted, or at least haven't seen it done in any of the many repaints of Battle Blade Bumblebee people have done. The axe was supposed to rotate down so that it faces the proper direction, but that apparently got omitted for fragility issues or something. After giving it a lot of thought, I figured out the best way to fix it and went ahead and did it today.

Basically, you need to add a pin so that it can rotate, and the best place to put it is in the base of the axe. Before you do that though, you need to shave the surface smooth and glue another plastic bit to it so that it's wide enough to have a pin placed.

Additionally, you'll need a pin that's a bit smaller than the usual used in most TF joints - Mudflap's ankles have such a pin.

After you've glued another piece of plastic to the axe, just drill through and then delicately cut out where you'll need the axe to rotate. You'll need to remove a small part in order for the piece to have clearance.

You may need to a trim a bit, but it all folds back up into BB's arm and remains spring-loaded. Nothing lost!

Then just place the pin, and you're done!

The axe doesn't necessarily have to be rotated 180 degrees to look good, either. I think 90 degrees so that it's aligned with the elbow joint for maximum chop looks best, myself.

Actually, the axe is not backwards. The first promo pictures had it assembled backwards by accident, because the lack of paint makes the axe look backwards, screenshots of the game will show that the non-sharp side is actually the chopping side, with the sharp side actually being more of a stabilizing clamp. Still, this is a very nice alternative for people who want the sharp side to be the chopping side without the desire for game-accuracy.

I'm quite confused. How exactly are you supposed to use the extra plastic? I really don't mean to sound like a dick, but the pictures are a little too bright to see clearly what it's supposed to look like. Could you clarify?

    So it's actually double-sided?

    Fukwtvr. This is getting confusing.

Axes go sharp-side down. That's how wedges work.

    But... both sides are sharp.

sharp =/= pointy. Meat cleavers aren't exactly pointy, but they still have a sharp edge.

I'll be honest, game or not, when I opened the blade on mine, I thought it was incorrectly installed as well. I totally love this simple mod. Plus points for finding a usefulness for Mudflap too.

Same here - so I looked up games screenshots to check for accuracy...
But I didn't mean to imply I was knockin' the mod, just that it was not needed.

The only downside to this modification is that the RotF can't be found at retail and is a rare figure. That's too bad, as this is a cool mod :(

Are You referring to Mudflap being rare, or Battle Blade BB? I don't know where you live, but Mudflap still exists in the DOZENS at my local Walmarts. As for BBBB, he is in the first wave of the yellow packaged line.

I know that, but looking at the screenshots:

You'll see that the "blunt" side is actually the one Bumblebee uses to chop with. What i'm saying is that while this mod does not make the axe more accurate, it's still an awesome mod for people who prefer a real life-accurate axe over a game-accurate axe.

Yes, I was referring to the RotF Mudflap mold, and his redeco as Tuner Mudflap. They're pretty rare.

    Really?
I still see Mudflap, Skids, & their Tuner repaints everywhere I look...

^ Read the linked thread in his post and you'll see just how much we all think of Mudflap. I personally am waiting for a Double Your Mudflap giveaway.

I looked at my BBBB last night as well. Nope, still think the axe is on the wrong way out of the package. If I had a spare, I'd do this mod to it.

Why not just uncrew and switch left to right on his forearm assemblies? If I recall correctly I remember seeing the axe what I was thought was right (big choppy on the downswing) on the instructions with all the cad designs, and the card showed it wrong.
Regardless nice mod! (And I do see what the rest mean about the game axe)
Note to self, paint bee's axe centre yellow)

It leaves a big open gap in the gauntlet if you do that - rather, what's underneath when the axe is on the left arm.

Besides, after having done the mod I think it looks best rotated at 90 degrees which can't be done without mods anyway.

That reminds me: I need to take a couple more pictures...

Don't mind me I'm just lazy. :)  Nice work inserting a pin into that tiny piece of plastic that makes up the axe btw. I do like the look of the heavier part of the axe being in the front but I'm just gonna leave mine. Aside from slight paintups later anyway. Kudos.
