This is an old story, but I decided to share it anyway...

I was browsing through a GI Joe toy gallery once when I came across the biggest goddamn playset ever. Naturally I was impressed, so I began wondering just how much that thing goes for on ebay these days...

...I came across a seller who had no less than five of them for sale. I read the description though and I was less than impressed...it was a bitter ex-wife selling them and she was seething with spite for him in the product description, and she was basically selling his collection.

I did report it to ebay but they did nothing about it...can't say I didn't try, at least. Selling someone else's stuff is something you just don't do, ex-husband or not. Unless, of course, she got them in the divorce, in which case I'd hate to be him...but I kind of doubt that was the case.

However, how the hell did he come about with five of them in the first place, well, your guess is as good as mine...well, maybe he was a big-time scalper, in which case he's just as guilty as she is (although he didn't actually break any laws in doing so - plus it's not like any child is ever gonna get to play with those things anymore, anyway).

And please spare me from patronizing about how she had every right to do that or some other BS like that. She didn't, period.

Reminds me of one I once saw on a model railroading forum. Guy came home to find out that his wife (I don't think the divorce was final, yet) and her boyfriend had been there to collect her stuff. While they were at it, they decided to trash his layout, and his trains.

I remember my friend when I was a kid had 2 of them. One was his and the other was his brothers. I always wanted to go over there and play; that thing was sweet! We used the arialbots, which he also had, to take off from there. It was sweet.

At one point, the walmart near me had many of them clearanced down to less then $30. Unfortunatly, at that time, I wasn't in to GI joe, so I didn't pick any up.

It sounds like you did all you could do.

    . . . and yeah, two wrongs don't make a right. :)

I'd like to have the extra space for one :lol

I guess that kinda leaves out the scalper theory...aaaand I believe we have a sufficient excuse to build that time machine now. :sly2:

Gotta snatch up a few Flaggs too while I go get myself that Fortress Maximus. :D

This reminds of an ebay seller (some middle aged woman) who was selling her dead husbands entire TF collection for some crazy amount, (like a million dollars or something like that), while she was running around with someone half her age, and giving this sob story on why she needed all that money.  I think she even posted here once. Or maby it was another Transformers site.

The Fort Max I am selling on the deck.
    Three 1/60 Yamato veritech fighters
    Seven Matchbox/Exosquad destroids.

It's 7 feet long and is pure awesomeness! I own one too (acquired recently) and I only got one chance to build it and enjoy it for about a week before I had to break it down again due to a lack of space currently. :(  Someday....
