Yeah, I think the whole environmental issue is too much. We already had The Happening and we all know how that one blows. If the movie concentrated on something else it would have been better. Not sayiing that I won't see it cause it looks cool, I just don't want to continue watching movies that deal with the environment. I already know we are fucking up our earth, I just don't want to think about it that much. :D

If you think about it the original played on cold war fears. Cold was is cold dead, so what are the two big modern fears in America these days? Environment and terrorism. Even though I don't see a need for them to be making this movie in the first place I understand the logic.

I was very interested until I saw this preview last night in the theatre. Now I could care less. It looks as if they've completely stepped away from the original. Why not just give it a different name and call it a day?.....

The original IMO is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.

I'd rather see a remake of This Island Earth. If anything could use a major rewrite, it's that one. Not only does the lead character do absolutely nothing to affect the outcome of the movie, but they also threw in a rubber suit monster for no particular reason, what so ever.

Saw the trailer, didn't do a thing for me. I immensely enjoyed the original, and think of it as a classic staple of Sci-Fidom.

Please for the love of God, when these "all powerful" aliens come to earth to kick some, can they please, please use some giant FRIGGIN LASER CANNONS! I am tired of this "I shall destroy stuff, with my mind/inviso earth destructo ray/matter eating mist bullshit. Fire a friggin gun for once!
Still.....no matter how many times I see the orginal, I always chuckle when I hear the phrase "Klaatu Verata Nikto" and keep thinking of Ash in Army of darkness.

Which was exactly the same concept as Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Which is another case of the remake being better than the original.

I still can't see this being the case with this one. I'd say it'll probably be more like War of the Worlds on the remake front.

Looks shit-tastic. Especially since Keanu Reeves is in it. Hollywood must LOVE making remakes just to piss off the fans of the original films.

Looks like a piece of shit.

This can NEVER fill in as a replacement for the original film.

Why anyone feels that a remake is needed for the original movie is beyond me.

The majority of modern movie goers can't bt paid to watch anything in black and white. It took me for ever to convince a co-worker to see Sin City. I kept telling him "this movie has everything you like in it, you'll love it." and he would say "I don't know, I just don't like movies in black and white." I would tell him there was some color but that didn't impress him. He finally went and did in fact love it.

In which case this movie should be one of the best films ever.

The Thing was fantastic, 'The Thing from Another World' was cheesy and boring. Also, Carpenter's film wasn't a remake of the older film but a more faithful adaptation of the short story "Who Goes there?"

Having now watched the trailer in full, with the speakers at full blast...I have to agree with the above posters. I mean, it's nice to bring the title back, but the action sequences from the trailer all made me think, "Didn't they do this a decade ago with ID4?"

What the hey - if it's cool and it brings in a crowd, then woo be doo. If not, and it flops, well, I didn't expect more.

No ID4 had a wall of fire, this is black smoke totally different.

But that would be awesome if Jeff Goldblum kills Gort with a computer virus. Earthlings win again!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, need I go on?

One of my dad's favourite movies, this just shows how lazy the industry is these days.

    "I've got a half-arsed sci-fi movie script"
"We'll need to cash in on something else then"
"No-one's re-done 'The day the earth stood still' yet"
    "Perfect"

I would love to be proved wrong, but am almost willing to bet my entire collection of TF's that this will suck balls.

    Almost!
