first time i've seen good new from my state!

    I like the part of the article that says "One survey predicted the last fluent Sisseton-Wahpeton Dakota speaker would die in 2025". I wonder how many of the speakers read this and then looked around going, who is gonna live to 2025, and who is gonna be dying before then.

    that's the res i live on the edge of, and seriously, it's one of the worst place i've ever been to for living conditions. the average life span is 40 or so, most die from alchol abuse and drug abuse. very very very very few of the kids speak the native language anymore, and the elder are all up there in their 60's now. so with the average age greatly outlived, the elder will be dead in 10-15 years more than likely and the language could possible see an end when they die.
