But surely adding an extra dimention to TPM means that its still only 2D?

Heheeh, yup. I'd be curious enough to see how these looks. I hate post-converted 3D, but it's Star Wars. Hopefully they are yearly releases. Revenge of the Sith sould look pretty awesome because they can go back to the effects and add a second camera for a real 3D feel.

No way in hell would I ever see any of the prequel films again in theaters.

Okay, maybe Revenge of the Sith, but even that's pushing it.

Really Lucas is doing 3D so soon? The same guy who though DVD and Blu-Ray was a fad? I bet he doesn't even own a cell phone.

Out of all the prequels I'd rather watch The Phantom Menace again than either of the others. Sure it's got Jar Jar, but on the flipside you have have the fabulous Pod Race and that wicked duel with Darth Maul.

I don't think I could bear to sit through whingy teenage Anakin, the comedy lightsaber Yoda (like watching a Muppet fight a pensioner) and New Zealand Boba Fett (Jango) in three dimensions.

And yet the characters will remain 1D.

I'll admit it, I'd probably end up paying money to watch the original trilogy in theater again, but theres no way in hell I'll pay to see those prequels. Especially with 3d.

Yeah, a lot of scenes would look good in 3D. The "always a bigger fish" and Droid/Gungan war scenes could also work well, I'd bet.

Shoot, I think I'm excited for Phantom Menace...

Guys, whilst we're all bitching and whining about the prequels we're all forgetting one important thing: the sooner the prequels are over, the sooner we can go and watch the originals in the cinemas again. For those of us too young to catch them the first or the second time around, this will be amazing.

I would rather be probing Uranus in Mass Effect 2.

My nerdrage is so strong that I hope TPM does so poorly at the box office that they don't even bother converting the others. I'm almost positive that won't happen and it will make 50bajillion dollars opening weekend. Such is life. :)

Yeah, I'm not as immersed in Star Wars as others, so please forgive my "newbieness".

The Phantom Menace, I haven't seen much of. But it was kinda boring with the whole plot with the Trade Federation and government and crap. And Jar Jar - I don't see why everyone hates him. People have compared him to Mudflap and Skids, and while I can sorta "see" why some people make take offense to Mudflap and Skids, I don't see what's so bad about Jar Jar. His voice is kinda funny.

But I remember, what I didn't like about Mudflap and Skids was all the screentime they got compared to Ironhide, Sideswipe and the other Autobots - or Transformers in general in ROTF. I'm not a major Star Wars fan, so if it was something personal to the fans like the beef I had with the Twins, then I didn't see it. I like Jar Jar, he's like the Goofy of Star Wars. :)

I admit, Attack of the Clones kinda sucked. But it had Christopher Lee/Count Dooku and that cool gladiator animal battle part.

Revenge of the Sith was the best of the three - Chewbacca, and actual acting on Anakin's part.

This is not the Star Wars you're looking for.

In a way I'm kinda glad as now I have absolutely no incentive to go see these now as if they had started with "A New Hope" I probably would have given into the dark side.

I'll wait for ESB. The Asteroid Field and AT-AT crossfire will be epic in 3D.
