    got him at tru today.

First off he is a straight up copy of Armada unicron with no differences i can see off hand.

As a figure he is huge and has alot of kibble parts.

Alt mode is pretty much a failure and a pain to transform(pics will be up later)

    Bot mode.
This is the mode that sold him for me and will stay that way on the shelf.:thumb

    and with kibble attached

He has decent poseability and if you never got armada unicron you may want to get him if you have the chance.

size comparison to another supreme class
He stands a good 3-4 inches over supreme roll out prime

I wonder if there's any way to tell if it's new production, or simply leftover stock from the Armada days.

I'd assume the latter, as there may be enough for a TRU-exclusive, but probably not a general release. Also, if it was a new run, I'd think they would change something (however small) in the color or paint to lure in a tiny bit of extra sales from completist and variant collectors.

Gads, I don't even know why TRU would want this guy as an exclusive. I think it's a great toy but he was the definition of 'shelfwarmer' during his first run. And a shelfwarmer that takes up that much shelf space is not a good thing. Maybe he sold better elsewhere?

Dead End would be better without all that Unicron-Kibble surrounding him...

While Unicron isn't a perfect sphere he is castly impressive in person and I do like his planet mode despite it's flaws.

Also: yet another reason why I love uni: posable fingers. Eat that you giant waste of space Prime!

If it has a date stamp, yes. However, I don't think Hasbro factories were date-stamping the toys themselves during Armada, rather just the packaging. I could be wrong, but I've only started noticing date stamps on toys this year with Animated and Universe.

Great review. I cannot wait to get my hands on him. However, I think it´s a shame that Hasbro didn´t use thet G1 colorscheme, since he is a figure in the Classics-line. Maybe the Energon scheme is the "superior" one and that´s why they went with it.

He would have be a "must have" if they had gotten rid of all of the clear pieces and used transparent green for the eyes intead of the original red. As it stands, I'm more than satisfied with my Armada version sence it's apparently exactly the same.

Thanks for posting pics and helping to make the decision to pass on him a little easier for those of us who got him durring the original run.

As far as i can tell there is no date stamping on him anywhere

    Yeah,

it would have been nice to see some changes to the mould or colors.

I honestly wish they had done just a little to make this guy worth rebuying.

Take those clear parts, and recast them in grey plastic. It NEVER made sense to me that they made what was essentially the surface of the 'planet' clear, nor his chest or abdomen. Making those grey plastic, and using judicious paint apps to bring out the details would do WONDERS.

Of course, if this is just old stock, then that would explain why no changes were made. It's a shame, Unicron was the single best thing Armada gave us, it would have been nice to see him get a more G1 accurate deco before they shelve the mold.

I still want a clear green variant. Damn the Japanese for putting one out but in such a limited quantity.

Hell at this point, I'd say forget the clear part, just make a nice looking green variant and I'd be happy. I think that scene with the shining Unicron was the best scene of Armada.

If these aren't a way of just blowing out old stock, then I'm thinking they are just capitalizing on the fact that there is a big interest in TF's and that they are banking that Unicron would once again make a welcome sight for the newer collectors who missed him the first time.

That's the only other way re-releasing this figure at this time (with no changes) makes any sense to me.

Correction: The box on the toy has the label "Armada Series" not "Classic Series".

Got mine yesterday, and am really impressed. I remember messing around with my cousins back during Armada and thought he was cool but I never got him. Definitely worthy of a purchase, especially if you don't have to pay full price. And for those asking, mine has a date stamp on his left foot that says 2003.
