    Hi guys,

I know a lot of people with awesome skills have had a go at this guy but I figured I'd throw this up so your average Joe can see how easy this guy is to repaint.

It doesn't really get much easier - I simply brushed Games Workshop's Chainmail as the main colour and Boltgun Metal as the darker metal. the purple was straight-up Lich Purple.

The repaint isn't perfect, and for my shelf it doesn't have to be. I might look at throwing in some highlights/washes, just because that's how I usually paint, but for now it's just flat colour. The brushed texture on the figure is really forgiving for a first time painter, I think.

    Anyway, enjoy :)

You certainly brought out the details in this fig. Very awesome.

Looks nice! Lich Purple seems to be a good match for Megs. What exactly did you do to the back kibble? It looks like it was detached and reattached at a different point.

I couldn't agree more with your assessment. He was my first repaint, too! And it went so well I got inspired to do more.

I didn't bother to do his backside, as for my display purposes it didn't seem necessary. Also I was unsure as to what to do with the silver accents already present there. But I may go back now that I see how yours came out.

Can you explain a bit about the whole "wash" concept? I see that thrown around a lot, and I'm very new to all the lingo.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, I often lurk around this board but this was my first custom contribution.

The Lich Purple is an awesome match for the purple on the figure - I forgot to add that I only painted the fusion cannon, the purple on Megs himself hasn't been touched.

I really, really (and for emphasis) REALLY hated the back kibble on this figure, so I wriggled it loose from the pegs and then used two clear rubber bands from the box to attach it to the back - not perfect, but at least more along the lines of the deluxe figure.
It's simple to detach them and peg them back on for transformation, but seeing as I have Megs in robot mode 99% of the time, it doesn't bother me.

I've just transformed him into alt mode to see if I missed any spots, and it's all looking pretty good right now. The coat of 'Ard Coat that I applied seems to be holding up nicely - no marks or scratches.

Thanks once again, and I'm more than happy to answer any questions :)

*edit* Sorry, forgot to reply about washes for aledromo

A wash is either a watered down paint, or sometimes a specific colour that you brush over a figure. The wash pools in the crevices and adds a dark definition, bringing out the detail. It's often followed up by reapplying the base colour (as it can stain a little) and then highlights. Very common in painting Warhammer figures.

What kind of purple paint is it? I love the colour. What's the brand name?

The purple is Lich Purple, from the Games Workshop Citadel colour range.
