VeeDub Bee is dirty but not as rusty & busted as the BeaterBee Camaro. Also noticed they didn't removed the VW logo on the hubcaps. Hoping this means they're officially endorsed by VW.

Seeing that driver box on the roof, I'm pretty sure we're gonna see a scene where Bee goes 'Psycho Herbie' & scare the hell out of Hailee Steinfeld/Charlie.  

 

That's a nice design tweak, it's a shame Micheal Bay doesn't know what he's doing, we might have got to see it in TLK.

Still even if Bumblebees aesthetic will be the same old shit, hopefully thanks to having a proper director this time, his character won't be. By that I mean he might actually have a character.

I guess AoE took a shot at defining it, but then TLK forgot about him again.

Well of course he wouldn't look G1/FOC, that's literally just the standard design from the first three films tweaked to look like some kind of military vehicle. Probably amphibious assault looking at the sloped chest pieces.

Which given Bee is a Type 1 VW Bug this time around means that he will be getting a total design revamp. Would be excellent to get G1 roof-chest designs again.

 

Oh that would be a breath of fresh air. I wonder if they do something G1ish for his face too!

 

This one is for the driverless scenes, huh? That's cool. A stunt driver takes this bee for a stroll, and gets digitally removed later! Sweet!

Just want to point out that with AOE's introduction of Transformium, whether we liked it or hated it, gave us a decent explanation how why that isn't the case. The metal reconfigures into a "softer" form that imitates anything its programmed to become, like a comfortable seat in a car or a big metal gun, a plastic Beats speaker or a metal pistol. The metal just emulated the feel of the item. Rubber on the tires feels and behaves like rubber, but will still split apart like the rest of the vehicle for transformation to robot mode.

 

It's soul can't be that brilliant if a slightly worn Beetle is all that takes to kill it.

Plus I'd say the biggest movie tradition (after explosions) is an indifference to what they did in the last film so this seems to fit.

On an unrelated note, looking forward to seeing the robot. Trying to picture the split hood of a Volkswagen creating a similar look to the original design is fun. Right now it is sitting either side of his head, angled inwards and forming a kind of collar around the neck. Sloped down slightly leading into... something. If I develop this any further might try drawing it. As long as they tackle it with a philosophy closer to movie 1 designs I'm looking forward to the reveal, which feels weird.

 

WV Bug, has it's engine in the back. The trunk space is under the hood. I want to see the engine migrate onto Bee's shoulder blades, during transforming.

"Bay" is sort of a popular name to use for a landmark.

But I think it's also an Easter egg.

 

Being up in Marin, it's possible (likely) that we'll be seeing BB driving across the GG Bridge from the city by the Bay.

 

What amuses me is that there was a Knight theme in TF4 & 5. Now this TF film is being directed by a guy with the last name of Knight.

Kinda like how it amused me that a couple Spider Man films were directed by a guy with the last name of Webb.
