No (and since you asked, I'll try and keep it short):

More along the lines of extremely repetitive combat/shallow game play (you've killed one Minotaur/Gorgon/Cyclops you've killed them all). A whopping 3 bosses (the best one being the one from the first level). Oh and having one level/puzzle (Challenge of Atlas I believe is the name) have a game breaking glitch in it (resulting in having to replay the first half of the game again).

Even without my personal experience (game breaking glitch) factored in, it's a mediocre game with some blood and sex thrown it to be "cool". I'm not saying it's a bad game, but I just never understood the insane level of love for it. It's the one game I sold back in the last 10 years. If you play the first level (and boss) and then walk away, then yeah it seems cool, but nothing better then that.

    lol

That's like an argument that can be used for every video game in existance. You've mowed down one guy in an FPS, you've done it in all. Not convinced.

Production level separates this game from others.

Perhaps. Then again I don't like most FPS either. My point is when a game's first level is the best part, and the challenge never increases beyond "more of the same" then it's not what I would consider a great game. The whole timed-button to kill an enemy thing just got very repetitive to me. "Oh look another Gorgon, attack-attack-attack, timed-button press, pop goes the head-Repeat each and every time exactly the same as the first time for the rest of the game".

Also production levels are nice and all, but it's gameplay that should matter first (a film can have a huge budget and still be crap). Plus I've never played a game with such a crippling glitch. Not that polished there. Granted it comes down to a mix of personal expereence + taste.

I'm not trying to "convince" you of my take on the game. I'm not trying to talk anyone out of liking GoW. I was just elaborating on my opinion. I think it's mediocre, but with nice production levels :) .

    Looks great.

Loved both the first and the second games and bought them both as well as the figures, but I don't have, nor am I planning to get a PS3.

I see your point, but I was referring to allllll games, not just FPS. RPGs (turn based) go from town to town, fight random monsters, press attack, magic, items, flee. (non turn based) go from town to town, fight monsters, etc etc. Games are repetative, but its what developers do within that repetition to make things interesting that makes games stand out. GOW's sex scenes aren't what makes it stand out in my book, rather it's darker take on mythology and its redesign of known monsters from that myth, as well as the fallen hero storyline.

I know GOW had that horrendously, poorly designed "climbing level" which is why I never played the first one again, but Part 2 was insanely cool, as was the PSP version.

I do agree that that first level on GOW was one that was cool enough that it left a lot to be desired from the rest of the game. GOW2 was full of those moments though, especially when you run into Persues and he is voiced by the same guy from Clash of the Titans.

And that shows how far tastes can differ. I really liked the level where you climb the side of the titan.

The gameplay video was too short. I need to see more. It's not that I didn't like what I saw -I did.
This may be the game to make me buy a PS3, but now that I have a Bluray player that will probably never happen.

A pity, as I'm pretty much the sole member of QTE's fan club.

Noooo, I'm referring to the climb on part 1 where those blades are slicing you and you fall all the way back down if you screw up.. The titan climb was amazing.

Game play is repeative but it has a pretty good story and I'm a fan of greek mythology. Its pretty cool to see the modern designs to the gods and classic creatures from the old stories.
