That was so awesome in so many ways: - strange faces on the seekers - old skool Megs' head was amazing - a TV advert for a comic? When was the last time we saw those?
*snif* that was so beautiful! I miss those cool commercials! Too bad they're so much against animated commercials now. I should mention there were seprate companies that did the commercials from the animation houses that made the series. Kinda cool cuz sometimes the commercials looked better than some episodes.
I saw that commercial once, and only once back in 1984 with a special showing of My Little Poney. Although for some reason I always remembered Optimus was the one with the bazooka and not Megs. It's also fun to watch in how it looks like a pilot for the animated series, and they're testing out everything. Thanks for posting it Gaastra. P.S.- But I couldn't help but think that when I first saw the ad, they(Hasbro) were jumping on the tranforming robot bandwagon started by the Go-Bots.
That's the one. I haven't seen it since 1984. Months before the toys came out the comercial popped up. I bought the comic at my local comic book store the next day(there was only copies left on the rack!). I loved what I was seeing in that comic book. I was already a comic book nut but this was just excellent. Back then, comic books came out up to 6 MONTHS before the date printed on the cover. I picked my copy up in early Spring 1984. It seemed like an eternity before the toys came out(in all actuality it was only a month or 2 after that). The book was a sales bonanza for Marvel, a second and even third printing of issue #1 was issued. The value of the first 4 issues shot up fast. I knew it wouldn't be a "limited series" for very long. Thanks for posting that clip, it really brings me back!
