First Custom - TFPrime Chromia! *Updated with WIP & Vehicle mode*

    WIP pics on ---> http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radic...rst-custom-tfprime-chromia-2.html#post8104822 <--- ;)

    My first custom!!!

FE Arcee into Chromia repaint with blasters, to complete my Arcee sisters team for the autobots...

There's Elita-1, she's the oldest, wise and mature, a techno organic engineer prior to the war, she is now Ratchet's student in the field of battle medic. Her preferred weapon are her rocket launchers, not for their destructive power, but ability to be used for cover and distraction, giving her the precious seconds needed to save or tend to injured autobots.Rumor has it that she knew Orion Pax before he became Optimus Prime. (She's basically the pink NYCC2011 FE Arcee)

Arcee's the middle sister, she's rash and slightly impulsive, with a tendency to race ahead into combat, She's quite skilled with close combat and a master of battling with arm blades. (As per show, FE Arcee)

Chromia is the youngest of the Arcee sisters, she's fascinated with earth's flashy street racing culture, from the tuner cars to the shiny chrome finishes - She even hopes to find an autobot companion with a sporty earth mode! Pity Knockout choose to join the Decepticons! However, don't be fooled by her seemingly shallow behavior, though she may be a scout, she's a crackshot with her plasma blasters! (repainted FE Arcee, using gold and silver, leaving some traces of the black and blue of the original to break it up a bit...)

Paint presently still has to dry... should have vehicle mode shots up by saturday... ;)

Thanks... I tried to do something a little different, mixing in some silver and gold with the original black and blue...

This project has actually gotten me excited to try my hand at this mold again, to flesh out an idea I had for a Cybertronian Ninja/Assassin group of the biker trio to bolster the Decepticon ranks.

    - Nightbird; Blade master... (goes looking for gundam beam swords... or maybe a pair of half sais???)
    - Darkstar; Ninja master... (already purchase a pair of garo 2 arms micron for her throwing stars...)
    - Fracture; hand to hand combat specialists... (tho am gonna throw in a pair of tonfas for stylistic representation...)

Looks awesome! I m wanting to get into doing repaints but I don't know which way is best. I heard that just painting works well, then I also heard that spray painting the whole figure flat black then using testors paint works just as good. What would you suggest?

To be honest, it was my first attempt... So I basically went by trial and error.... however, I did read this particular thread ---> http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/radicons-customs/572166-p-rid-arcee-w-i-p-mods.html <---- Which is what motivated me to finally try... It's got lots of info, tips, and general know how with pics... great for a beginner like me...

Regarding this figure, I went about using some metallic paints i got from a hobby shop and some old brushes i had home... I actually wanna try spray paints for my next project... so I'll let you know how it comes out...

Re: getting into painting/customs.... The hardest two things to do, is getting started, and seeing it through to the end... because most of the time it may not look like you envisioned... but you got to stick it out... because it surprises you in the end...

My next direct project is going to be a PRiD Cliffy into Tailgate... :D  :D  :D  The Decepticon Shadowstrike team will be in a month or so when I get some cash to pick up 3 more FE Arcees...

Thanks for the encouragement... SEVEN, the best I can tell you is preparation is everything... Get to know your figure well, whilst visualizing how you want to tackle your paint application... I spent almost 2 weeks contemplating/thinking through the process before I started...

Am planning on going more show accurate, but I'll be using a white base with red and blue to break it up a bit... Next weekend I'll be tackling that project... ;)

Never thought about those colors for Chromia, but they fit surprisingly well. I like the remaining hint of blue too, it adds that extra color and makes the pallette look fantastic.
