Today mozilla launches firefox 3, which apparently is much faster than it's predecessor. Right now they have just the release candidate up, but it is estimated to be released at around 10am PDT. Keep an eye out on the main site today!

Yeah I have a feeling 2 is the reason my PC at home is sucking balls at the moment, so roll on 3. 10 PDT is like 6pm Engerland time, right?

Just remember to back up all your bookmarks and such before installing it; personally, I back mine up weekly anyway. Good job too; despite the messages saying it would keep everything the latest release candidate wiped them all. Also, the maine Yahoo! homepage wouldn't work, and in fact hung the browser. After installing Firefox 2 again, it kept closing as soon as it opened. I ended up uninstalling it altogether (keeping personal info and bookmarks - you never know), and reinstalling 2 from scratch; when I started it up, all my bookmarks were back.
    Just a heads-up.

Is there an easy way to back up all the bookmarks in order to restore them?

yeah, you have to go to bookmarks > organise bookmarks then file > export.

it exports all of them to a single html file.

I think I just found it. go to

    bookmarks>organize bookmarks>file>export

and then I just saved to my desktop, and I assume to get them back all I have to do is import, although it would be nice for someone else who's done this to verify.

Just installed it. It sure feels faster, both loading and rendering. Half my extensions aren't (currently) supported, but some of them like Fasterfox clearly aren't needed. The awesome bar tagging has potential. Tags seem to be drawn from webpage titles, which is handy when the titles are short and memorable.

Got it to work now, thanks anyway.

Edit: Install went rather quick, and as for my bookmarks I use Foxmarks as it syncs this PC and my works PC's bookmarks.
Just signed in and got my bookmarks.

Since Google Browser Sync is no longer supported I need to figure out an alternative. I'll be trying out Foxmarks and the del.icio.us bookmarks soon. Any advice or comparisons on the two?

I only use Foxmarks so can't comment on any other.
In fact I hardly remember it's running until Firefox tells me its about to update the add-on.

and to think I just finally installed the candidate late last night. I should point out that my bookmarks didn't get touched at all, either, so it must've been a fluke for Draven.
