I worked on it for 3 hours and had to take an hour break in between each hour. I got most of it done without the instructions until I got to the legs. That thin diecast was so friggin flimsy, but the only time I thought I was going to break it was pulling up the body from gun mode to alt mode. Also knicked him a couple times moving things from place to place. His damn knees were so stiff that folding them into the handle nearly made me go crazy. I wont transform him for a long long time, but I definitely appreciate the design more after having been through this.
Three hours????? It only took me half an hour the first time - though I did manage to give him a few nasty scratches.
I'm home on a 2 week vacation and finally got around to fiddling with my TFs. I transformed MP Prime in like 5 minutes. But MP Megs was a different ballgame. After all the MP Megs horror stories I wanted to make sure I got everything right. Except when I got around to the last 10 steps I became really impatient. Great toy, though.
I love mine. Some issues with the design, sure, but it's the best interpretation I'll get off a basically impossible cartoon concept. Plus, got my Perfect accesories this weekend--looking forward to assembling the total package.
I'm thinking of finally transforming my extra MP-5 from robot to alt mode so as to display both modes together. Is that a bit easier to do than the vice versa? I'm scared as hell.
wtf dude, 3 hours? mp megs took me what, 15 minutes the first time and I can do it in 5 now. What were you doing? taking naps between steps? Btw, he isn't that fragile either, just don't swing him around or something else dumb.
my MP-05 has been stuck in gun mode for a few months now. i'm still working up the courage to try to transform it back to bot mode. funny thing is that unbeknownst to me, my wife was taping me (with our digital camera) as i transformed him. i got towards the end and was getting frustrated, and i threw him down on the table and looked up at the camera with this murderous look in my eyes. every time i watch the last few seconds of that vid i get a good chuckle. i had to walk away from the table for a few minutes at that point. otherwise i'm shure i would have thrown megs through the dining room window.
I like taking mine out about once a month, and transforming it back and both, as well as 20th Prime and MP Screamer. The complexity makes it more fun for me. -Tony!
My Megatron doesn't do that anymore. I saw Silverbolt's video on Youtube where he literally ripped his Megatron in half. No matter what, the chest just won't lift up. I just keep it in gun mode. Seriously. What the hell! That joint is held up by the diecast anyway in robot mode. It's held up at the neck and shoulders. That part should be loose as hell and it won't make any difference. I'm also kind of relieved I'm not the only one complaining about the knees.
After reading horror stories of Megs breaking...I have yet to transformed him even once since I first got him - no JOKE! XD I'm kinda disappointed with the "rust" issue also with Megs...bah!
Jeez. I've transformed him maybe 10 times. It's really not a big deal. In ways, I think he's somewhat easier than MP Prime! When I got the accessory kit, I had to TF him into gun mode. Hadn't done that for a couple months, so I'd forgotten how to do the legs. It took me about a half hour and I had to find the instructions. LOL
This makes me not even want to buy one. Difficult transformation combined with a possibility of breaking or scratching parts makes me believe this TF is not worth investing in. I don't think Transformers should be so difficult to transform or be so faulty (aka scratching or breaking easily). RUST?!?! omg?!? How old is this thing? I have TFs that are from 1984, and they have no rust on them.
3 Hours?!? Crazy, did your Megs not come with the instruction book? It took me about 40 minutes my first time transforming Megs. I've only transformed him a few times and since I got Encore Megs, I doubt I'll ever transform him again.
I had it but didnt use it until I got to the legs. Trying to figure out how to bend those little plastic doors that connect the legs so that the knees slide in was really tough. My Megs has really really stiff joints in his knees and left arm. I had to take a break every so often because, like many have said, I felt like throwing the toy across the room. This shouldnt deter anyone from buying MP-05. Like any TF, once you transform it the first time it gets much easier after that. It's way easier to go from gun to bot mode. I did that like in 10 minutes.
I have TF'ed mine countless times. I've never taken more than 15 minutes. He's seriously has the coolest transformation ever. Unfortunately, the last time I was TFing him, I had to put him down halfway to go check something. I can't remember how, why or what had happend, but I come back and he's on the floor. I pick him up and he seems fine at first, but then I see that the trigger section has been scratched and broken. I tried to fix it, and got it reassembled, but one of the clips broke and got lost, so now he doesn't quite stay together very weel in gun mode. Add to that the fear of rust, I'm scared to TF him anymore. But he stays one of my favorites, sitting in an Ikea shelf next to 20th Prime and Kremzeek. Maybe I'll try and TF him later.
