Ok, so I've put aside 3.5k to put towards this toy, however, I've never seen it on Ebay, and damned sure not here. I'm burning for one though, and just need help on where to look and what I should expect to pay.

    Any help is appreciated.

Even though we bicker in the game thread ;) ...perhapps ask Automporph as he is contacted in the asina market and can probbaly dig it up or his contacts. I doubt you ever will see it on ebay. Other choice mught be Bodhar if he has any connections that can search it out.

Hey thanks! And ok, I'll shoot him a PM.

It's one of the 5,000 reasons I hate that I came into collecting so damned late.

    No probs TJ:

@Crystal Convoy:Its a toy only made a extrymly low quantety of.

During the 2009 AA there was a Tf display of LD:s I know they own the gold MEgatron (Tf@the moon) but I can with almost 100% say they wont sell it but they might have contacts to.

those pics of that LD display was something.

EDIT: HEre is the one of the pic with the LD

Edit 2: Crap ...wrong pic...but you get the idea

Step 1 Buy a Cybertron Optimus Prime.
Step 2 rub down with alcohol to remove all the paint Take it to pieces and bag up the screws in marked zip lock bags.
Step 3 send to a Chroming firm.
Step 4 screw it back together
Step 5 place toy on shelf and spend 3K on something else.

Result something that looks 98% identical and costs you about $3,350 less.

Oh and for 2,000 + less than that you could get an unmade Star Convoy Store display. or for 3,300 less a Gold Chromed King Exkaiser. or many other things.

It's funny to think how stupidly expensive Transfomers Lucky Draws are but other robot brands have them too and most are well under $100.00

That said I regret not paying $350.00 for a Galva Lio Convoy or $300.00 for an LD Micron Legend Megatron or $150.00 for a slightly crummy Silver Beast Machines Cheetor when I had the chance.

And I really wouldn't say no to a Sky Lynx, Blue Beast Convoy, Blue Big Convoy or a Black Six Shot either. But I'm not quite so daft as to pay Ebay prices for them.

It's his own hard earned money, I think he should decide what to buy with it.

I hope you're able to track one down. There is nothing like finding one of your grails.

Good luck bro. Hope you can get one. I fell the same way about Big Blue Convoy. If I find one, I'm going all in.

Looks cool TJ - hope you can lay your hands on one.

And what exactly is a Lucky Draw figure? I've seen people talking about them - I get that they're extremely rare or unique items, but how do folks go about getting one in the first place? It is it a raffle or contest of some kind that Takara sponsors and the winner gets the Golden Transformer?

EDIT: NM - googled Lucky Draw and found luckydrawtransformers.com.

I don't think it's likely to acrue much past 3 or 4K though unless a buch of Stockbroker Transfans suddenly appear and drive the prices up... I hardly ever see anyone actually sell things like Black Fire Convoy when they list them for 1,500.00+ they must spend a fortune on listing fees to never sell it - if it was $600.00-$900.00 it might sell a bit quicker.

It's madness when you consider you can get some very rare toys for well under $150.00 and yet someone wants $800.00 bucks for a green Ramulas - yet the blue Soundwave Mutant I have is way rarer than him and he's not even worth $80.00 when they show up from time to time.

I have a toys that are rarer than the lucky draws (like a transparent & also a black Armada Smokescreen or a pink Armada Optimus Prime painted sample, and a bunch of battle in a box unreleased samples ) and I've seen others sit on ebay for years at $50.00 and not sell it's just crazy its no baring on cost it's just someone decided to go bonkers and try their luck at an insane price and then people buy into it.

I wonder how much my all Green Tidalwave is worth now ?

Anyone want to buy it for $8,000 ? (laugh)

    ----

Oh you can commission someone to cast the windows in your colour of choice too - (or use the galaxy force repaint that has smoked windows instead of blue) you can even buy a special chrome paint called Alucard that you can use to paint the window frames or touch up scratches with.

He does look quite nice electrum plated though - makes me want a Lucky Drawn United Jazz now :)

If I was doing it myself from scratch tough I'd not use all chrome though I'd leave the wheels black and do the window frames gold and perhaps use a mix of gold chrome and silver chrome.

I do like Gold toys though that was why I bought a vintage Great Goldran - shame the remake is slightly better looking though :(  I need to buy another one now.

Speaking of Gold Optimus' there's a quite nice Electrum coloured Knock off G1 MP-01 Optimus you can get quite cheaply and likewise an all gold original G1 Optimus in all gold that I think looks quite cool too.

Personally I'd prefer to buy lots and lots of toys for less each than a few hugely expensive ones.

I realise people have different collecting habits (like those who went out and army built certain things to a massive level). I only have a couple of Scourges to act as sweeps (plus the United one as Scourge himself)... I don't think I'd want 15 of them though.

Well shit, now I wouldn't pay more than 1.5k-2k, but it just sucks bc I have NOTHING to base a price off of without it being on ebay.

@Red - I'm with ya. If I did this myself, I'd want the black GF windows and leaving things like the tires, and maybe even his fingers black.

I don' think I'd want to try and chrome stuff at home in an old fish tank like some people do the chemicals involved are quite toxic.

I suppose it's workable if you have an old garage to do it in - but I don't think you'd want to do it in the house.. you might gas your dog.

Oh, I'd never do it myself. I've heard there are places I can send things though.

    Yep there is.

There's even places that specialise in rechroming toy parts - but you can often get them chromed at car repair places sometimes too.

But the method is a little different if it's plastic being chromed rather than metal.

There definitely are, I looked into getting some older Godaikin and acessories chromed at one point, but it is cost prohibitive and would probably devalue them in the long run. As far as a newer toy it would still cost quite a bit. Good luck in your hunt though.

From my 5+ year old experience, eBay prices on Lucky Draws are kinda.. super fucking batshit insane. I own 3 myself (both Energon Rodimus version and the G1 Rodimus) and got them all for about $1k total. The G1 figure I'd seen on ebay for $1,500 or so but found one at Botcon 07 and talked the guy down to about $420 from $450 I think.

That'd be hella nice to find what I'm looking at for 450... hella nice...

Yea guess I'm doing ok. Getting married this year, but that shouldn't take away from collecting... it's kids that I'm like, "eeep" about.
