I watched the first 8 minutes of the demo earlier today on youtube. So far, honestly it looks like it has good characterization and for what I can hear, the music is great. When we are in the vicinity of it actually coming out, I'll be as giddy as a FF fanboy with a new FF coming out soon.

    Edit: here

I love the chicobo in the afro.

Likewise. I have to admit. I wish the demo was available in the Japanese PSN. I'm hoping it will be soon. Right now it only comes packed with Advent Children's BR.

I have Advent Children on BR preordered and can't wait for the demo. It will be a great game I have a feeling. I just wish they would remake 7 for the PS3. God that would be awesome.

The release of a new Final Fantasy is always an exciting time for me. The wait for this game is killing me.

Wish this were coming out "on time" with the PS3 this year; now we have to wait an extra year for the xbox version to be completed. Fuck you Square. :(

I really wish we'd get a FF game that went back to their roots (that wasn't a remake... unless it's #6). When I think fantasy my head doesn't go farther than steampunk, it's not giant robots with glowing swords in the middle of a massive overly techno city... I'd just like to see one that was back at it's sword and magic roots once in a while, less of these overly pretty games.

Looks good, though the action still looks a little stale (though better then FF12's, which was just boring). I like the sci-fi setting and designs, even if I don't really associate that with Final Fantasy, but those characters...AAAAAAAARGH...

There's also footage of the PSP 13, Agito, which looks like old school FF mixed with Crisis Core.

edit: I thought the PS3 and 360 games were coming out at the same time, and the only exclusive was vs.?

according to the hands-on reviews of the Demo

    - No More XP or level up
    - No MP
    - No random battle,
    - Partially turn base with up to 3 attacks queued
    - party members controlled by AI

DO WANT! I am liking the look so far. I actually haven't played a FF game since...FFX. Don't know why. But this one may get me back into it. With the way this one looks...it would be sooo easy for them to do a FF7 remake with similar graphics, but only one can hope!

Chrono Cross had the best formulas. There was no EXP, and leveling wasn't really done in the traditional sense. Basically, you only advanced after beating bosses, so the defeating of bad guys was based on your strategy and not how long you grinded with you characters. It will be nice to see if Square goes back to that time of advancement.

Good old FF, never fails to satisfy. Think I'll have to invest in a current system now.

Well, the demo of FF12 didn't really give you a great idea of how everything worked in the final game. Of that list you just posted, I won't mind the lack of leveling as long as there is some way to upgrade and improve your characters. Only controlling one party member does bother me, unless you can switch on the fly, like FF12. Either way, I'm not concerned because I agree with this below post:

Yeah, and I personally foking loved FF12. Fighting was actually fun in that game as was knowing that I could take any of those characters and specialize them in anything, kinda like FF6 with the Espers

eh... the characterization of the male character struck me as horribly racist.

But maybe not. We will see when more of the character is exposed.
