Hopefully it is the PC version from years ago with more mod support. Some of the texture packs people came up with were magical.

That's what most people are suspecting actually. (and seeing as the article mentions 8 in there as well, which was also on PC) Interesting that the previous registry was found LAST June (I guess maybe for the 15th anniversary? now I feel old)

I just hope it is a straight port, and nothing is drastically re-done. Honeybee Inn better be left alone, among other things.

Curious what they'd do for Achievements though

Would I be wrong in assuming that everyone who cares or likes FF7 probably has a copy somewhere or maybe downloaded it from PSN? I guess I stopped caring that much about Final Fantasy games, pre FF10, getting rereleased since Square Enix has done that so often.

Now, when they release and HD version of 10 and 12, I would be all over those.

If you get HD versions of 10 or 12 before my remake of 6, I will burn things.

You might wanna get that torch ready, the HD remake for 10 was announced a while ago.

As far as 7, like said above, doesn't everyone who want it already have it?

First off, I would KILL for a remake of 6, but the odds of that happening are far more slim then bumping up the resolution of 10 and 12 like the God or War or Devil May Cry HD collections. And yeah like the post above says, an HD version of 10 was announced, but there's no way to really know when thanks to SquareEnix's less then speedy production cycles.

Pretty sure, but at least in my case, my Discs are in bad shape, so if I decide to do some form of Download version, I'll hold for this, rather than PSN.

And I'm trying to think, unless you count the PC ports, and PSN, have the 7, 8, and 9 (no PC for 9) been re-released before though?
I know the SNES era games have a shit-ton of versions (I THINK 4 has the most actually)

On a different note, been trying to think up what they'd do for 36 achievements. Those can be tricky to 'ret-con' into games from before the trophy/achievement days. So far I can think of things like

    Being Chosen by Conero
    Escaping Midgar
    Recruiting Yuffie and Vincent
Winning a certain total at Gold Saucer
Winning a full set in the Battle Square
Maybe story-line benchmark bosses, Jenova fights perhaps?
Defeating Ruby and Emerald (maybe for all Weapons)
Breeding your first Special Chocobo, then one for a Gold
The different dates in Gold Saucer, or at least the 2 rare ones

    And, for good measure
Actually getting the Lucky 7 effect.

Yeah, it's mostly been SNES era games along with FF1 and 2 getting ports a lot. I just know I've downloaded 7 and 8 on PSN though to. I guess I would rather just hear about full on remakes OR maybe more on Versus, or even 15...

I beg to differ about FF10, but to each their own. I was dissapointed about the lack of a world map in particular, but the battle system is still my favorite turn based combat of any turn based RPG. The story also made me actually care and like jock characters, which I don't think any movie has ever even made me do. Either way, comparing a remake versus and HD rerelease is like comparing apples to oranges.

For one I have no reason/need to upgrade, and I'm also a bitter old man who rejects change.

And it's live as of today, honestly, they shouldn't have even bothered with the achievements.
