So I'm looking for bots and cons to fill in the rosters of the Wreckers and the Ultracons, so far I'm going with IDW lineup for the Wreckers and DW lineup for the Ultracons and I'm adding in a few extras who I feel fit the part.

So I'm looking for figs to use as updated versions of each member.

There is an excellent Tidalwave to broadside kitbash some where in radicons you could use as reference.
Why not use Energon cliffjumper as sandstorm I always thought that was who he is an homage to
I have no idea for topspin but he should be the same size as twin twist, kitbashed classics silverbolt?

Why make Mixmaster deceased? You could use Universe Heavy Load in his place, since he's a new character anyway.

 

Mixmaster is deceased because he's missing from the molds that make Classics Devastator, I figured he could have been killed in action which explains why Dev has different look.

For Sandstorm I might try to get Energon Cliffjumper as he resemble one of his alt modes very closely.

Runamuck and Runabout you could get 2 of the WM exclusives Breakaways when they're out, leave one white and paint the other black and give them heads from armada blurrs.

I've also been considering forming a Wreckers team for my AEC universe.

Initially, I was going through and trying to find molds that matched all of the members and ran into a wall when I realized that I'd need to create some custom characters to fill out the line-up (as soon as I saw the Tidal Wave into Broadside custom, I could accept no substitute). Since I have no experience at customizing, I came up with plan B.

My favorite molds in the AEC line are the Vanguard (Cybertron Defense) molds, and I really like the idea of Team Vanguard as a distinct 3 'bot team. To mirror that, I'm planning to create a 3 'bot Wreckers team consisting of Springer (Botcon), Roadbuster (2-Pack), and Whirl (2-Pack Springer).

I really like the symmetry between the two teams that way, and in my universe, I would imagine Vanguard as the first team in, and the Wreckers as the last team out.

 

You should use Universe Galvatron to make Bludgeon. His face is a lot closer and the tank mode is cooler.

 

I've found this list hard to compile too. I've been doing it privately and what i've come up with is this.

I've been wanting to do the same thing myself. But unfortunatley, as been dualy noted, anything that would attempt to look like the original Wreckers would need mods. However, I do feel I came up with a nice list to base each Wrecker from.

Broadside, Scoop and Rodimus are easy enough choices, as is Springer if you can pick one of his two repaints. As for the others:

Whirl - Energon Bulkhead. Similar copter mode, decent bot mode, would just need blue paint and a new head.

Roadbuster - I feel Energon Landmine would be best for this. Maybe square off the scoop on the front of the truck and add some more plating to the windows, throw on a new head and some green highlights and I think it works well.

Twin Twist - Since everyone hates him anyway, I see no problem with upgrading him into another "unpopular" mold. That mold being Armada Demolishor. Remove the chair on his ass, change his face, give him reala hands and change the missles on his shoulders to drill bits. White limbs, blue body and I think he'd be a great update.

Top Spin - Very few alt modes look good as a land/sea Cybertronian vehicle, but I think Cybertron Override would fit it well. All that would be really needed would be a vison and a blue paint job. Throw some silver on the top of the feet and it'd be a close match.

Sandstorm - As said before Energon Cliffjumper would work real nice with this, and it wouldn't even need any modding. But I always thought a modified Movie Evac could pull off Sandstorm's chopper mode real well too.

As for Quake, FAB Desert Attack Brawl. Remove the double turret (it has to come off anyway) and you have a great looking tank mode with a decent bot mode with a great paintjob. I know that's who I use as Quake. And I always saw Cybertron Deluxe Unicron as a great Bludgeon, he has the horns, the tank mode, and even comes with hand held blades. They're not some super-robo katanas but they're still nice weapons.

I kinda did something similar where I was going to try and re-build the Wreckers, but after finding out how hard it would be to do so I just remade my own little sub-groups. Currently Botcon springer is leading up the Autobot Armored division with Leader Bulkhead, movie Landmine and Target Crosshairs. Hound will probably be joining them too when I get him. Because I try to limit my use of unique molds as multiple characters, there's not many more military-esque ground vehicles I can add to these guys. But what I got works, for now...  

 

For Blast-Off, look at the ultra Powerglide repaint Storm Cloud. And for Swindle, you might want to check out the Animated version for a more G1cartoon-accurate look.

 

for Broadside and Sandstorm i use E-Jetfire and E-Cliffjumper as stand-ins who've given up their third mode in exchange for Powerlinking abilities [E-Bulkhead as Springer has "Wrecker" Mode when he combines with his assault backpack].
