For me, it was universe galvatron. I heard it was crap, and I even thought it was crap when I held all the pieces in my hands, but when I got it all together, damn he was awesome.

Most of the Marvel Transformers. After the failure of the Star Wars ones I was ready for more crappy crossover toys. Not so. They are top notch.

Powerglide. I really wasn't interested in him based on the pictures. But when I randomly bought him, I was more than pleased.

Recent one that comes to mind is Animated Shockwave. Both his alt modes are really weak and fall into the "it's a [whatever] because we say it is!". But he's super jointed and just fun to fiddle with.

Classics Jetfire, I never liked the mold by eye even in person, but when I handled my very own Treadbolt, dayum!

    Classics Bumblebee.
I heard that it was fantastic, reviews were praising it.

I bought it and promptly felt ripped off. Take out the jet ski and it shouldve been a Scout class.
The sculpting is fantastic I'll admit, but I just cant find anything I like about the toy.

Beast Wars Razorbeast. Never really payed him any attention as a kid, but after reading the IDW Beast Wars comics I dug him out of storage and realized I like him more than most of the other Beast Wars basics.

back in the day i really was impressed with BW Bantor and Torca, two great and basic fuzors that i didnt really see coming or important. Cybertron Downshift and Armorhide were another two i didnt see coming and i loved both of them once i opened them up.

Classics Prime was amazing the first time i opened him up. I didnt expect to enjoy his mold as much as i have.

Classics Prime mold. I didn't think I would like it at all. When the Magnus V. Skywarp pack came out I wanted Skywarp, so I was stuck with Magnus. Now it's one of my favorite molds and regret missing out on Optimus.

Allspark Landmine. Some great articulation and astounding detail. After fiddling with it for awhile, it has become one of my favorite toys.

haha when i first saw ur title, the first thing i thought of was galvy :D  so yeah, he's the one that surprised me too..quite a good figure if not for the horribly loose joints...transforming him back to tank mode was a nightmare for me

I would say Blades is a positive suprise. I wasn't too into him nor was I blown away by him in the package at the store, but I got him how and now hes one of my favorites.

Negative Suprise? How finely crafted my Sunstreaker is and how terrible Sideswipe has been assembled.

    id say for me

Classics Galvatron- even though he fell apart when I touched him after I got him transformed hes actually a pretty cool figure

Classics Ironhide- alot of people just hate him but I love him even though hes got a blue face I love him (I colored mines face silver already lol)

Animated Blitzwing- the vehicle modes arent that great but if you look past that hes an awesome figure
