After being corrected by RedAlert Rescue on the "Cool Stuff TF edition" thread on Cybertron Soundwave's neck folding down because of me leaving the head mistransformed which added height and articulation, this thread happened. Any TFs that look better mis-transformed?

Not sure if I'd call it mistransformation, but ROTF Brawn looks WAY better if you position his hip kibble as leg armor (windows facing down, the instructions just tell you to leave those pieces hanging around)

ROTF Mindwipe? when you transformed it right, you'll get chicken legs :D

also, I prefer to not attach Magmatron's skysaur leg to his chest so he can have a bit of head articulation

Perfect Effect Bullet. I make the camera kibble look more like an ammo drum rather than a jetpack.

Hrm, I'll have to try that with my Red Alert bash. Looks way better.

    I may humbly suggest this:

Actually, to achieve this, you have to unscrew the legs and swap them around. Customization =/= "mistransformation"

Good idea for a thread! Let's see, I'm sure there are quite a few, but the ones that come to mind for me are:

-Real Gear Photon and Spy Shot look better if you leave their pelvis halves unconnected, and ratcheted out a few notches. It gives them a wider, more stable-looking stance, and you can't really tell their pelvis is split.

-Classics Hound looks pretty great if you flip his two free-floating shoulder-wheels towards each other, so that they join together and form what looks like one beefy wheel mounted right behind his head. I actually have my Hound figures transformed the official way, but I have Botcon Scorch sporting this one big wheel to distinguish him. It seems to fit the character, looking more like a giant ripcord-driven wheel or something.

Kibble-positioning sometimes gives you several options, and can be a good way to distinguish two characters who share the same mold. For instance, I have ROTF Sideways with all his spiky kibble fully deployed, but Dead End has all of his lying flat (more suitable for a clinically-depressed character). Same goes for Alternator Sideswipe and Sunstreaker... different door-wing configurations to suit the two characters. I'm not sure if that really counts as "mistransformed," though, as I suspect a lot of these molds are designed to give you different configuration options.

Rotf sideways. i give him straight and long legs, with wheel panels acting as heels and his tiny feet acting like toes.

Do alt modes count? DOTM Reverb is definitely MUCH better when you mis-transform his alt mode. Helps give him two mostly symmetrical wings and the big fan right under it so it looks like a better hoverbike.

Huh. I always thought that was the official transformation. Guess not. That's the way I normally transform mine unless I'm trying to position the wheels so the shoulder weapon stays better.

Movie Voyager Rescue Ratchet: for a more G1 look, don't fold the windshield behind his back.

Generations Blurr: to differentiate him from Drift (and make him taller and more lean-looking), leave the legs extended and shoulders vertical.

Universe Tankor (Octane): lower his shoulders so that they are horizontal. This will make the arms look better proportioned and shoulders will look more naturally positioned.

Classics Voyager Megatron: don't extend the feet.

DOTM Powerglide: don't pull out the hideous looking feet, just let him stand on his tailfins.

RTS Grapple: if you don't have a spare peg to attach his crane to his back, then at least clip the crane onto the black piece behind his head. With a bit of fiddling, this can be pretty stable.

Can't think of any others ATM.

To distinguish Generations Wheeljack form my United tracks, i leave Wheeljack's wing tips unextended, and with tracks i pull the trunk of the car up over his with the missiles attached to emulate the G1 look. I really think mistransforming Tracks in this way makes the figure look fantastic and very distinctive :)
