Hi, I've always come across item listed on ebay with "loose, but complete". I mean, the items are either not officially launch, or maybe some exclusive (like botcon) but they do not come in any packaging. Are these items safe to purchase? original? Thanks in advance for input
yeah they are safe usually. loose and complete just mean its the figure with all accessories minus package and usually instructions. only thing to watch for would be the condition. are there marks, scrapes, discoloring, loose joints, which you can always ask the buyer before purchasing off ebay as well. but usually for the buyers sake these issues are listed as such, but not always.
I've ordered several things from BBTS that were "loose". They were always in good to excellent condition and complete with instructions. The only thing missing was the original packaging.
It's really a hit or miss when you buy loose but complete. I recently purchased a loose but complete Classics Ultra Magnus off the bay, and the seller forgot to mention that his core body has yellowed a bit. Speaking of which, I know I've passed by this topic many times over the years, but please tell me there's something I can do to fix minor discoloration on white plastic... anything but painting it.
If I recall correctly, there really isn't anything you can do aside from paint to fix yellowed white plastic. The plastic has changed on a molecular level giving it a yellow appearance. I'd recommend disassembling him and color matching some paint for best results.
Well, there is a way that can help get rid of some yellowing. It does involve chemicals though... Removing yellowing - NTFA.net forums
I think the point of the question is being missed. I believe he's asking about pre-launch retail or exclusive event items. These items usually come from people who work at the manufacture, or people that know them, or have some kind of connection. I purchased a loose pre-SDCC 08 Nemesis Prime from a board member. It was an official product just minus box and about 6 weeks prior to SDCC. As with anything you buy online look at the sellers reputation. Also make sure to verify it's the actual production item and not a test shot, or sample. As they may vary from the actually production item.
I would recommend that you study the auction carefully and read the description. Then head over to a site like tfu.info and make sure that it has all of its parts. Sometimes an auction is listed as loose and complete but may be missing/have wrong parts. Also be aware that there are some bootlegs of certain figures that get posted as legit. Not trying to scare or discourage you but letting you know that you do have to know what it is that you are buying.
