I'm pretty sure that that trailer is cardboard. Look at the back wheels.

    Edit: Beat to the punch.

Why does the Takara Airachnid have 6 legs and not the three I have always seen?

Do her legs break/rotors break apart and no one has doen this yet or is there somethign new going on in that pic?

They got a second set of rotors to put it on her. I've seen it done on the boards here.

Those volume 2 capsule Microns looks sooo darn good! Can't wait to get a set to give to TFP Deluxe Megatron and FE Bulkhead!

I'll bet they used the space that would have been used for the "batteries" for the extra capacity to hold more tapes.

Did I miss something? Is one of the new masterpieces (soundwave?) coming with a new mold megatron gun?

I know scale isn't really a viable thing, but MP Sideswipe in vehicle mode looks HUGE next to Prime's.

Looking at Sideswipe, I have to say... he looks more and more like just an extremely nice Deluxe figure. Those don't look like rubber tires either. Oh well.

Hope Hasbro sells these cheaper than Takara.

I'm already waiting for Reprolabels to do their MP-12 set. He looks really bland in bot mode. (they seem to have sculpted in many of his "sticker" details, but left them uncolored)

The crazy thing is looking at G1 toon footage, he isn't that detailed, so this deco fits in that regard IMHO.

Still, I agree about it being a tad on the bland side.

Also, he feels like more than a deluxe - maybe a really great modern voyager.

Yep, Sideswipe looks gorgeous but no more than a deluxe - will still buy it though. It is an accurate Countach and the best Sideswipe yet. You're right about the wheels, they look plastic with those notches all the way round. I'm hoping that they are that way on the prototype and actually rubber on the real thing. After all Alternity managed it.

True, but the sculpting details are pure G1 toy, not G1 toon. Knees, waist, etc.

His backpack now stores his head, and probably some of the mechanisms for his chest compartment.

The CAD render there is actually mistransformed, though (or an earlier revision). From the prototype samples that we've seen so far, there's a hinged panel on the backs of his shoulders that covers the tops of the batteries, so there is a contact. Pity that there's nothing covering them from the back.

They did make the most of it by having his shoulder gun be permanently attached, though. It hinges and swivels into place, rather than having to be removed.

I'm perfectly fine with Sideswipe's size and will happily pay inflated MP prices for that level of detail & accuracy. My big problem with the figure, though, is the apparent inability to store his weapons in alt mode. Seeing them attached to the roof like that looks beyond ******ed.

Also never realized Soundwave's weapons/batteries were visible in alt mode until now. Not a total deal breaker, but a bit of a letdown considering their dual usage was one of the key aspects I always loved about Soundwave.

I just cannot belive we are finally getting a mp Soundwave. All i really want now is a mp Galvatron and a MP Ultra Magnus and ill be set.As far the G1 cars goes im glad Takara decided to make them but they should have taken care of all the leaders before anything else.

Given that they're all coming out at the same time, it seems more that Takara is looking to expand the lineup more rapidly, by releasing a series of smaller, cheaper releases alongside one or two "big ticket" releases. That way they don't spread the market too thin rapid-firing out big, $150+ releases.

Same general market strategy Bandai's currently applying to their Chogokin releases. Maybe one or two big Soul of Chogokin releases in the year, but then a handful of the cheaper Super Robot Chogokin figures in the same timeframe.

I mean, over the course of this year, we'll have had MP-11 Starscream, MP-12 Lambor, MP-13 Soundwave, and MP-14 Alert. And not too long before that, we had MP-10 Convoy. In years past, it might have been up to a year and a half between just two separate releases.
