Just figured I'd start up a thread to specifically discuss Fem-formers...and...what molds would be great choices to either repurpose as...or...use as a base for a custom for...

Just wondered if anyone knew of a Shapeways designer who has done a Deluxe or Voyager Elita-One head...???...

    (I did a search and couldn't find a thread...but...maybe I missed it)

I think I browsed all of Shapeways...and...found hardly any femme bots heads...that is terrible...I mean there are a few of Arcee...and...Chromia both who have figures...and...there was one for Nancy...and...a few for Slipstream...but...I believe that was it......where is the fembot love @Shapeways...???...

Just wondering what others thought. Not just the die-hard Fem-former fans. Because actually I've been wondering quite awhile. After some searching on Shapeways and various forums for third-party news it seems to be quite the shortage on heads and upgrades based on and for the female Transformers. To better clarify there are a few items out there but they seem to cover the same few characters. Now I realize that femme based molds are in short supply as Hasbro / Takara up until recently barely showed them any love. But, even without the dedicated femme molds there are quite a bit of molds that could with minimal additions, some without even painting. As a CHUG collector there is always a figure or two getting replaced as a better homage comes along. Thus, leaving the older version somewhat misplaced. Some of those figures could be focused on for potential in femme upgrading. It just seems with the femmes being under utilized that like with most every other utilized sector of Transformers, that some third-party or Shapeways designers would step up to fill the void. If I had the skill or even the equipment I'd definitely be interested in trying to shesign some parts. But, as it is I'm left to asking the community why the shortage on upgrades and heads for the Fem-former? And with Hasbro / Takara s recent releases, redecoes, retools , etc. it would seem quite the perfect time for designers to board the Fem train.

Cool...if they do heads for Windblade...Beast Wars: Uprising Stilleto...and...Maxima would be good choices...they both use the Windblade mold in their recent respective appearances...

I'm going to word it incorrectly then try to adjust my thoughts. I think that they aren't being made because they aren't geewun.

More accurately, most add ons seem to be of "favorite" characters, particularly from earlier series. Adding onto that, many are done of existing characters instead of original concepts. Thus, outside of a few characters like Arcee, fewer people are as dedicated towards it. Some people want these options for the character so little presence in fiction hurts some from being made. Thus it's probably more apathy or being considered lower on the list than anything deliberately negative.

However, there IS something to be said for a limited number of dedicated female bodies. People may be seeing it as limited options for upgrades, despite the fact that a head (and backstory) do a lot of work. It's worth pointing out that most heads I've seen have been for Prime Arcee and she's a bit more easily available than some others. Granted, I think the ball actually has been dropped on at least doing a few for CW figures.

It sorta seemed with the #Fem-formers boom recently though that overall popularity wouldn't...or...maybe shouldn't have deterred Fem-former upgrades...

i remember someone suggested prime knockout into moonracer (most likely you), offroad into astraea, and i think the leader seekers could make a pretty good mistress of flame.

Yeah, that likely was me...their IDW models are very similar...I can see the Seekers as the Camien IDW Afterburner...not sure I've maybe not seen enough images of Mistress of Flame to see the similarities...Astrea make sense...

Were Drag Strip...and...Animated Drag Strip that different deco-wise...I like the idea...but...decoes were probably too similar...maybe from Generations Arcee though...

no, i mean use the mold to make different females that used arcee's frame at one point, just make a new head, hands, and possibly chest.

btw i got tr wheelie, and your right. it'll make a cool moonracer, the head is connected similar (but maybe bigger) style to cw blackjack.so making a new head shouldn't be too hard. also, the stock head looks a bit feminine to me, especial:y if it didn't have the chin.....

Ok...I think I see what you mean...but...as far as I recall...anybody who was a femme...and...shared her mold before has recently been better homaged...except for a mech...Decepticharge...who shared a frame during the days of Binaltech...I believe...I guess the mold in Blackarachnias deco would be nice...and...yeah there were always two hypothetical (at the time) molds I figured would work for a CHUG-verse Moonracer...an updated (now TR Wheelie...who seems close enough to her G1 alt)...and...a potential CHUG Knockout (who would be a great base for her current IDW appearance)...the feminine stylings of both would work well towards providing a solid Moonracer ...

If they give me a good Nautica to begin with, I won't need upgrades.
