I always preferred the second film, as it was my introduction to the whole Harry Potter saga.
Last one. Then Prisoner of Azkaban and the rest.
Philosopher's Stone. I enjoy the first-time wizarding wonder of it compared to how depressing and dark it all gets as the series progresses.
Chamber of Secerts. I just love that Dobby......and yeah. Basilisks are awesome.
Why is it called Sorcerer's Stone in America? That's a pretty lame name.
Alliteration sounds better? I like it a lot more than Philosopher's Stone, and a sorcerer sounds like it has more to do with a wizard world than a philosopher would..
The first one will always be my favorite. I can watch it, and Chamber of Secrets, anytime. But after they got the new director for the 3rd onwards, something was lost and I just stopped watching them after the 5th. Only thing I even remember from the 5th movie was how much I hated that Umbridge woman.........
First movie. I had no idea what I was getting into when I saw Harry Potter. I had heard of it and the controversy behind some of th ebooks when they first hit American shelves, but beyond that I knew nothing. The first movie, and the second, seem to have a young innocence about them that dwindles as the series gets darker. I love the series as a whole but I guess you could say, 1 and 2 are the lights in the dark.
the first three because they are the most accurate to the books (i voted for chamber af secrets cause of dobby!! )
It's weird because I did enjoy all the movies as I watched them, but I barely remember any of them at all now. Maybe the one moment of the entire series that still stands out to me is the bus ride in Prisoner of Azkaban with the shrunken head. Probably because it was so different to the novel version.
Otherwise, the movies have kind of faded in my memory, other than the faces and the voices, and what I remember are the novels. So it's kind of hard to pick a favorite movie. My favorite of the books would probably be Chamber of Secrets.
Prisoner Of Azkaban has always been my #1 favorite. It really stood out differently from the rest of the movies.
I'd have to say Goblet of Fire. It's when things really begin to change. Plus, you have all those trials too.
I really enjoyed The Chamber of Secrets
My least favorite was OotP.
1. Deathly Hallows Part 2
2. Chamber of Secrets
3. Prisoner of Azkaban
4. Deathly Hallows Part 1
5. Sorcerer's Stone
6. Order of the Phoenix
7. Half Blood Prince
8. Goblet of Fire
1. Goblet of Fire
2. Order of the Phoenix
3. Prisoner of Azkaban
4. Deathly Hallows
5. Chamber of Secrets
6. Half Blood Prince
7. Sorcerer's Stone
Well, I couldn't find an "official" thread so I'm just gonna post this here. Does anyone own the UK version of the complete series? According to an Amazon review, there are some scenes missing. Is this true?
Chamber of Secrets for sure.
Prisoner of Azkaban
I think it's because in the US the term Philosopher is not really used much when referring to magic etc. Philospher mostly just means a person who studies social philosophy, as opposed to natural philosophy.
Anyway I'm having trouble picking. Honestly I don't think any of the movies were really all that great. POA had the most potential since that was clearly the best book but Cuaron cut out just a little too much. Gun to my head I guess I would pick Half Blood Prince but I'm not sure I could explain why.
It's revenge for Teenage Mutant "Hero" Turtles...
Though seriously, Scholastic didn't think kids in the US would read a book with the word philosopher in it's title.
As for a favorite HP movie?... I really couldn't pick. Just like I can't decide which of the books is my favorite. I at times can't even decide who my favorite character is. There's too much good about the series to have favorites.
