...and i'm not talking abt just TFs here. collecting a variety of lines my faves were: - from he-man, rio blast. hes that cowboy dude with hidden guns. it was cool that because of the design, they used different plastics for him, making him felt having more quality. - raven from MASK. i like that calhoun guys profile and dug the corvette because of that show with bruce boxleitner XD - that cowboy guy from silverhawks (wow. 2 cowboys on the list) - that green/brown guy from centurions, with his thingamabob that transformed between a cycle and exo suit. - starmax bomber from starcom. gotta love the deploying cargo bay. - that winged ship that stuck to corners from sky commanders. i had those things criss crossing my room, drove my mom nuts. - lotsa legos. me and bros would play em (and the 8 bit system) till wee hours in teh morning during weekends, good times, good times. stuff i wanted but never had: real ghostbuster toys i had to build substitute using legos, even ecto-1.
Oh man, I think I will go in chronological order: i) Star Wars - Luke Skywalker! I had some many of the white robed version that I've lost count. I loved the "light saber" gimmick. ii) Hulk toy - can't remember from which series but it was around 4-5 inches. iii) Chogokin Gundam - one of the vintage blocky Gundam bots from Bandai? can't remember the name. iv) He-man and Battlecat - who doesn't like a barbarian with his pet (green) tiger. v) G1 Optimus Prime - my first ever TF and man, did I had great moments with him as a kid! I had other toys like Silverhawks too but the ones listed above were my most memorable - especially He-man!
IN no order! He- MAn and Battlecat. I went through about 4 HE-Mans I used to play the hell out of this guy! Topspin (TF toy) he was awesome. My Grandma loved him to cause he was a Quickchanger. She used to spend all day playing with it whenever I took it over to her house. A-TEam Toys!!!!!! I ahd all the team! I didnt get that sweet ass van though =/ ECto one and the ghostbusters figures. I think I had All the original ones and a set of a second or thrid wave too. I was mad into Thundercats too. I loved Liono...I loved when you put the thing into his back to make his eyes light up! I so badly wanted the Thundertank though! I loved GI JOE too, My fav ones wee the Space ones. I played the hell out of Roadblock!
Chogokin, I can't remember which ones (my childhood is a long time ago ), but I'd say Great Mazinger and probably Getter Robo. I sort of remember Yusha Raideen, but I am not sure if I actually had the toy or not. And Microman! Me and my brother had lots of them, with some vehicles and bases
Hmmm lets see, and in no particular order... 1)Thundercats. I remember getting Lion-O at my birthday party in a Burger King from a friend of mine. Awesome toy; was so excited to get it 2)Slag. I remember playing that triceratops all day long, although I dont think I ever got the transformation right. 3)Ghostbusters and ecto-1. So much fun to play with. I used to do the siren when I would "drive" along it the floor. 4)Hotwheels. I had so many of these it's not even funny. 5)Ninja Turtles. This is really the only toyline that I actually had 90% of all of the figures when I was a kid. My desk completely covered with all of them standing there, ready to do battle. It was great too cause my grandfather would randomly buy one and then place it amongst the huge ass army i had, just to see if I would notice.
In no particular order: - Transformers of course but in particular the G1 Protectobots, G2 Combaticons and G1 Grimlock (my all time favourite) - Lego: Ice Planet 2002 series (got it all) U.F.O. series (got it all) Spyrius series (got it all) - Mighty Max: Skull Mountain Dragon Island Plus nearly all of the other sets ever (and I really mean nearly) - Star Wars Micro Machine Playsets: Hoth Base (the biggest MM set of hoth) Also Ep 1 Hanger Bay and Gundam battlefield Have many others as well but no where near all It should be noted that everything I have mentioned I still own, however I did at one stage sell 90% of my transformers (all G1 and a little G2) which I regret quite a bit now since its the only toys I have taken up collecting again. That said I am quite pleased I still kept all my other toy lines and though I wont sell them, I am waiting for the day that Mighty Max makes a comeback - can't wait to see the new toys for that.
one of mine was the ghostbusters headquater ....WITH PURPLE SLIME !!!! only problem was the slime was lil messy and never came off
Thanks! He is awesome like that. I also remember having a decently sized Mask collection. I remember thinking if a car can turn into a boat, then where is his robot mode?
Ninja Turtles. I had a friend that had/has just about every single figure/assessroy/playset. Loved the Technodrome and the Turtle Lair. Centurions. I have the orginal 3 MISB in storage He-Man. Like KA, I too was a huge fan of Rio Grande. Rio and my other personal fave, Thunder Punch He-Man, went on a killing spree and took out Cy-Kill and Skeletor (the one with the waterpistol backpack). GI Joe Tomahawk Helicopter. You ever notice that the pilots head was like twice the size of the other Joes? Star Trek Micromachines. I had almost all of them! Star Trek TNG Galoob diecast USS Enterprise-D. Broke off one of the tabs that kept the sauser section inplace and had to superglue it together Various Star Wars & Star Trek model kits. Great B-days gifts for me since there was a outlet center that carried them near where I lived
LEGOs. *sigh* And Thomas the train. Heh... I also had a G1 Magnus, still do. But he didn't get much luv back then.
My favorite childhood toys were: Lincoln Logs, starting when I was about five, then Legos, followed by Capsela (remember those? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capsela ), and then Star Wars, Transformers, MASK, and then girls, right around 1986 or so.
Key toys from my childhood - In rough cronological order: 6 Million Dollar Man doll & space capsule Mego Star Trek & Spider-man figures (& Enterprise bridge playset) Legos - (Starting back before articulated minifigs) Plastic army men - The standard Vietnam era styles Original Star Wars figures AD&D action figures And finally Transformers, Gobots and Robotech toys.
I played with a bunch of transformers. Grimlock, Soundwave, Rodimus Prime, Hotrod. Some Star Wars figures. Gi Joe 3inch Snake Eyes was one of my favorite as a kid. I also played with that Cystar figure (blue one) like nothing else.
I didn't have too many MOTU, Star Wars or GI Joe toys as a kid but I was huge into Transformers, MASK and Legos. Before that, I remember playing a lot with Stompers (http://www.stomper4x4.com) and Starriors (http://www.starriors.com).
Voltron Ninja Turtles (just the basic Turtles and their Van) Tonka Construction vehicles (all metal and tough as hell) my Bike Micro Machines
