Zombie thread is a zombie thread. Anyway, for me, toss up between Dragon Quest VI and Dragon Quest VIII.
I'm not into RPG's much, but probably my favorite one (since it is technically considered an RPG, but some parts of it aren't very RPG-like) would have to be Fallout 3.
I don't want FF6 to be treated with anything but the utmost respect, and therefore I don't even think Sqaure Enix is capable of making a remake for it anymore. I wouldn't want it done like FF4 and and 3 on the DS because the game felt so much more serious and the characters felt more grownup. And I know SE would never drop the funds for a full console remake. I think there is a slight chance they could make a decent remake on the 3DS, but like I said, I have little faith in SE doing it justice.
I think so to. I also think Chrono Cross was one of the best RPGs as well. I don't really know why it doesn't get more appreciation.
Chrono Trigger was amazing, one of the best RPGs I have ever played. One of the first I emulated when just getting into RPGs, bought the PS and DS versions, and loved them as well. The DS version got a whole lot of love when it came out. Chrono Cross was a blast as well, it lacked a little bit of Trigger's charm, but it was still really fun. Since we're talking about time travel and parallel world games, has anyone checked out Radiant Historia? From the little bit I've played, it seems rather cool.
Reading this thread made me realize just how much time I've spent playing RPGs. Lots of excellent picks have been mentioned, and I love most of them, but I'm going to have to go with the Skies of Arcadia for one reason: Airship combat Seriously, who can resist this beauty?
So far it's Elder Scroll and WOW... but I've got both Dragon Age Origins and Mass Effect 2 yet to be played so I'll get back to you on this.
