I am SHOCKED than not a single person mentioned Parasite Eve. What an outstanding story that had. It was like a movie. And awesome sequel to the book.

I liked Parasite Eve, but Vagrant Story used the battle sphere system significantly better.

I'm shocked that I haven't been chastised for mentioning Chrono Cross. lol

    FF8 & Vandal Hearts.

Both blew me away with how deep the gameplay was, they might not be perfect but i enjoyed them far more than almost any other RPG.

You know, I remembered something that made me feel like I cheated on my girlfriend...

I can't believe I didn't throw Phantasy Star 4 into this mix. I woke up at 7AM and drove to the mall the supposed day the game was going to come out and plopped 100 bucks for that damn cartridge. I locked myself in my dorm room, told my girlfriend at the time to hang out with her friends for a few days, and spent a non-stop 20 hours on the game, only stopping to pick up food from the cafeteria. I beat the game in one sitting, and was not in the least remorseful for buying a 100 dollar ending to a great series.

usually im not too huge a fan of RPG games BUT there have been a select few that caught my interest

on the PS1 it was Xenogears and Legend of Dragoon. I never did beat either of them [cuz i could only find them to rent at the time. now they're like either impossible to find or insanely expensive lol] but yeah. i really liked what i played of both of those

as for more modern stuff? KOTOR is definitely in there. Star Wars. Great story. Cool Characters. Sweet graphics. it was awesome

Mass Effect definitely gets huge props from me. as far as im concerned Bioware can do no wrong lol

i just beat Mass Effect again the other day and yeah. i am so anxiously awaiting the sequel. I think this game is awesome. Story, design, characters. everything is just awesome. i need more now plz.

My favorite RPG of all time is Gabriel Knight : Sins of the Fathers. Awesome story, excellent voice acting.

Daggerfall is a close second. God I spent so many hours on that game.

Well, it's a toss up between:

    Dungeon Siege 2
    Vampire: Bloodlines
    Neverwinter Nights 2
    Fallout 3

I love 'em all for so different reasons

Speaking of Elder's Scroll, I'd like to throw in Daggerfall for good measure, and because I spent at least a collective month of my life on that game (and by that I mean added hours to a month, not that I only played it for a month).

Daggerfall has to be one of he buggiest games I ever played - I gave up on it after a while.

Another good game would be System shock.

I don't remember too many bugs, but I do remember walking in one direction for an hour because the world was ridiculously huge.

My favourite RPG is KotOR, both I and II.
Elder Scrolls is good too, but I like sci-fi, not fantasy.

Out of the VERY few that I've played: Fallout 3. Great game. Had me tied to it for awhile. May go back and buy those DLCs.

    EDIT: KOTOR is awesome too.

Honestly? I couldn't say anymore. The Mass Effect series, as an evolution of KOTOR has stolen my life, but the rebooted Fallout series has probably stolen it even more.

However, the best RPG of all time, at least based upon price, has to be this.

Golden Sun - Game Boy Advance at Play.com (UK)

Golden Sun on GBA for £222! Somebody has to be shitting me right? Or a LOL typo...
