So, what are some of the favorite online auction places around here? We all know about e-bay, but what are some of the other places that people like to use? I'm looking for some place that's likely to have some of the rarer Japanese chase and gashapon pieces, but I'm also curious where everyone else does their shopping.

-Mods, if this is in the wrong spot please move/delete/whatever. Thanks!

I was thinking along these lines recently myself.

I'm aware of YahooJapan, but as I (and no-one I know) has any Japanese, I'm a bit wary. I know that you can buy stuff and use a third-party to ship it, I believe they are called Rinkya, I'm sure someone else here will have more info on this.

I'd love to know about any other (English language) sites if there are others besides Ebay (which is full of KO's and dodgers these days, even two years ago it was much better).

Only ones I'm aware of are Yahoo!Japan and ebay. Rinkya and Celga are pretty good third-party's to order stuff from Yahoo!Japan

With all eBay's "improvements" between Feb. & May, things look to be headed down the crapper. I've been looking around for other auction/trading sites and iOffer looks like it has potential, though not quite there yet.

Other than that, YahooJapan is a good source for Transformers.

Yahoo auctions s'pore FTW! i've gotten quite alot of great stufs (& at a good price too) over there.

The thing is some of the s'porean sellers won't ship overseas. but most of em' are fluent english speakers (unlike yahoo japan) so if you at least try to contact & reason a bit with them. you'll be surprised that they are very flexible & easy to deal with. you deal, bid & bargain directly with them. no need for any middle-man whatsoever.

No such thing as Rinkya or Celga or 3rd party whatnots. all you need is a yahoo id. :D

Can someone explain "Rinkya" and "Celga" on Yahoo!Japan a bit more for me? Are they sellers that you can order/request things through? That's kinda what it sounds like to me, but I've been known to be kinda dumb in the past...

Nope. They are 3rd party services that bid for you. And recieve the goods you order then ship them to you. I believe they also translate auction pages. As Yahoo Japan auction service is under no obligation to be global. That is a fair few won't ship outside Japan.

Ok bro here's a brief rundown of Celga (sort-of):

Email them yr request at bustakei@yahoo.com & they will set up the account for you.
send the following with your request (you can
include more than one auction per email):

    1. URL (of the item dat you're bidding on YHJ)
    2. Max bid
    3. Your name
    4. Your address including phone number
    5. Deposit of 50% in USD to paypal@celga.com
(100% deposit for buyouts and website orders)

You'll receive an invoice in a few days if you win. If
you want a refund of your deposit if you don't win,
then you can get a refund at any time, just drop them a
note! Then, 7-10 days after the end of the auction
your item will mosts likely be ready for shipping. You
can wait for more items or submit your shipping
request at any time on the shipping request form:http://www.celga.com/shipform.html

    Here's the Celga webpage:
    http://celga.com/index.html

The shipping & other misc fees:
    http://celga.com/fee.html

But if all that is too much hassle, you can at least give yahoo auctions.sg a try :) .
(no middleman fees, bid or buy direct, no need to use babel fish-online translation svc,
easier communications & most sellers will accept paypal)

The only time I've used something other then eBay was YahooJapan through Rinkya which I used to buy Binaltech Black Convoy which even after fee's and shipping amounted to $180 :D
