With a Predacon thread online, time for a Maximal thread to be its consort.

Same details apply, vote, and tell why.

Optimus Primal - One of the best leaders in terms of character development. Can anyone believe he was initially just the commander of a science vessel?

Rhinox - Odd one, really. He was the engineer/tech expert, but he really didn't have the standard personality of one, and the fact that he turned into one of the least subtle animals ever was a strange contrast. It worked.

Rattrap - If you did not vote for Rattrap, you have no sense of humor.

Dinobot - If you did not vote for Dinobot, you have no sense of awesome.

Silverbolt - Refer to comment in Predacon thread about 'nudge nudge wink wink say no more'.

    Ah, there we go.

I voted for Primal. Damn near best Optimus there is. He's not only cool, but smart, calm, and seems like he would be a generally fun guy to hang out with. Many times on the show he's just chillin' and reading a book under moonlight, or under a shadey tree. Though that eventually changed with Seasons two and three, where the war got a little more fast-paced and with higher-stakes. (Plus dying probably didn't make him feel too good)

    Weren't Maximals.

Though their leader was pretty awesome, too. He fights teh robot rapturz and doesn't afraid of anything.

All of them were great, but I voted for Primal foremost because he remains the most awe-inspiring Cybertronian I've seen yet.

I also guiltily voted for Airazor, because as a kid I was fascinated by that hawk-girl thingie. Not to mention that my first episode of Beast Wars was "Before the Storm" where Airazor featured a bit.

Primal and Depth Charge for me. Primal is a unique leader that stands on his own merits rather than his rank. He showed that a 'Prime' didn't have to be supreme leader to be great. And Depth Charge was just too bad-ass. His voice and his vendetta against Rampage made him a 'don't get in my way' tough guy character. Plus, his death strikes me profoundly.

Likewise. Every time I see his remains sink to the bottom of the ocean and make a loud clatter against the hull of the Nemesis, I can't help but think that even in death, he's still fighting.

I like that I can choose more than one person in this poll, because it'd be too hard to pick just one. In no particular order:

    1. Optimus Primal: I still think he's the best Optimus we've ever gotten. A real person, not just an icon.

    2. Rhinox: Like Xaedrahk said, Rhinox is the most unique scientist we've ever gotten in TF lore. Bulk, brawn, and lots of brains without being a running gag like Perceptor.

    3. Rattrap: Yeah, he's crude, but we all have one friend like him. :)

    4. Dinobot: Conflicted nature, but at heart he stayed true to his own personal code of honor: not Maximal or Predacon honor- just his own.

    5. Depth Charge: DC is indeed badass. He arrived on the scene with a single-minded purpose, and saw it through to the very end regardless of the consequences. I don't know if I'd call him heroic, but he's still a favorite and his flaws make him more relatable.

You've summed up nicely something about Depth Charge's character that appealed to me. He wasn't the heroic type of good guy, he was just out to fulfil a personal mission. He was single-minded in his goal of vengeance (or as he called it 'justice') against Rampage and yet, we can sympathise with his drive to accomplish this one and only goal, even though it makes him a liability and loose card in Primal's team.

I also agree that Rhinox was an unusual combination of brains and brawn. A very handy guy to have on one's team! He could be manning and repairing the base or out on the field providing you with heavy artillery. Too bad they corrupted him as Tankor in BM.

Gotta say I respect Dinobot's character too. Even though he spent time on both sides of the war, you don't feel that he's a treacherous kind of character. In fact, quite the opposite. He was unswervingly loyal to own personal code of honour.
