Name stages you like/dislike from any video game and tell why. Did this in another forum some years ago or so. Prolly just a couple maybe.

I always liked "Hall of Colossia" in Secret of Evermore, because of the mood with darkness lit by torches in somethin' ancient... and the music was either givin' ya the feeling of venturing inside this old structure from long ago. And the main hall music's just beautiful too. :)  I could post a video link on it, if its okay.

Hmm... least favorite... well the Water Temple in Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time was a pain in the ass. (not that I'm the biggest fan of that series anyways) You had to be so careful about puttin' the damn water level just right and not fall off. Nah, I'm not a big fan of the Zelda game levels either.

Most hated : Mega Man - Wily's castle , got through it eventually, but daaaammmn

Most loved: Not sure, the first few hours of GTA Vice City was cool, or the last level of Kid Icarus where you're all beefed up. It took alot of hard work getting there.

Well- I have to say the worst for me would be the Speeder bikes in any Battletoad game. These levels I would say actually ruined an otherwise good franchise.

EDIT: Ha, Atlianz JUST beat me to it.

Favorite level, well, more like "area", would be Final Fantasy VIII's last dungeon. Moody, gothic, floating castle, with music to fit and bosses up the wazoo.

Recently though, I was pretty "wowed" by some of Devil May Cry 4's environments. Specifically the castle and the forest. Also, I am now playing my way through MGS4, and during the second chapter, I was running through water while two armies fought around me and a helicopter was shooting from the sky. Very exhilirating.

Most hated: any "mine car" stages. Those just piss me off.
Favorite: the space pirate stage in Metroid Zero where you are without the suit. I made a save at the begining of that and played it so many times. Also the entirety of Mega Man 2.

Can I pick some like's and dislikes? I cant just pick the stage the I like the most, there's plenty I like and some I dislike. Usually I don't let a particular stage get me down if the gameplay is still teh shit.

Well, there's Freespace 2 (referenced it again!), the final mission is a space battle blood bath. It's an escort mission, but thankfully not all ships have to survive and the ships you escort have guns, plus there're other friendly fighter wings in the area, some you can even command to back you up. The mission is really more about your own survival, the mission does fail if too many civilian ships are killed, but if you let that happen, that's mean -you- where really not focused. Fighters will try to pick you off, enemy capital ships will try to swat you out of the sky, and bombers will force you to intercept their torpedos. There's -alot- happening and it's hell. Not only that, at the end, you have to escape the star system's sun as it goes SUPER NOVA!

I dislike one mission in Freespace 2 where you're in a nebula and you're with a squadron that does weapon testing. You fly interceptors combating prototype stealth fighters. The mission is scripted for you to loose against the fighters, even though I'm going old school and flying by observing smoke trails, and weapon discharges to find the stealth prototypes. I'll be all over them, being highly agressive, going in close range (my fighter is faster) to ensure I have better accuracey (the prototypes cant be targetted). I'll score hit after hit, but nope, the script wont have any of that. The mission gets better after about 5 minutes of simulated battle when the Shevians warp in, you do get to use a pretty neat missile in that mission. It's a target designator, so the big ships direct their big guns on tiny targets for some deadly results.

    Worst:
#$(^#$^ing wind tunnels in Battletoads. Ruined my weekend and a game rental.

    Most recent worst:
The Albatross in BC:R. It's pretty much made me uninterested in finishing the game, which is too bad.

    Best:
Aliens vs. Predator 2: The level where you go after the captured marine sergeant. Epic atmosphere.

You know this thread made my brain hemorage. I simply could not come up with a single stage that I enjoy. Bunch of different things came to mind, even as recent as MGS4, but there are simply too many. I'll get back to you.

Though Least Favorite would have to be God Of War 1, climbing up that tower with the blades.

Ya know, you might be right about that. I can't remember clearly now. I'm thinking it might be a bonus objective? Eitherway, I still hated doing that sinerao.

That same thing happened with me with the Albatross. I loved the game otherwise, but to make you do almost 3 seperate entire levels all in one, THEN go to an area created to reproduce every element of "cheap" made for side scrolling platformers was some kinda brain-fart design decision by Capcom.

Anything with water or ice is probably very frustrating.
