How do you guys feel about fake/molded transformation parts. I for one cant stand them. IF the hood of a figure is supposed to become the chest, then why make it become the back and mold a fake check? or like the new jazz from FOC has fake tires in the legs while the others get covered by a panel. For some reason this just really bugs the crap out of me. What are your thoughts.

I don't like it on principle, but it never bothers me once it's in hand. It all comes down to one of my core beliefs. The animation should reflect the toy, not the other way around. They need to stop trying to design toys around animation models that just aren't feasible. Design the toy first, then animate it.

There are times when cheating is sort of okay, like MP Prime and the two stomach grills but for the most part is the lesser of two evils.

Either have faux parts and a good looking bot mode or don't and have a worse bot mode for the budget given to the toy. Both are better than parts forming which could've been another viable solution for Has/Tak had they not decided to go down the path of cheating.

This FoC Jazz business does sound a bit odd though, hiding wheels just to reveal more wheels. Also, the Voyager Prime from Prime and DotM having a second set of windows for his chest that you actually put over the actual windows......

It's getting worse. It's gone from neat things to just "how can we make the bot look screen accurate" and there's less focus on working out a way to transform one thing to another and more on just "where can we hide all these parts".

I'm personally not a fan. I love when they can engineer things as close as possible to the bot's CGI/Character model. I remember being disappointed at TFTM Leader Prime because of how his chest was, and then RotF Prime blew my mind with screen accuracy.

It can be done to put the parts where they're supposed to be, but sometimes it just ends up being hard as hell to transform them. But hey, I'm up to the challenge.

I think they're done well most of the time.
I still remember looking at AM Jackpot's head, and being perplexed by it representing half a car.

I dislike it but won't rage about it. It's one of the reasons I really prefer FE Cliff to PRID. They showed it can be done without cheating.

    So... unicron trilogy?

Don't mind it as long as HasTak at least makes an effort to make it look like it's not a cheat. Not like TFP Ratchet, to pick an example.

That the main thing those shows got right.

Really, I've gotten sick of Prime's impossible designs. The toyline is clearly suffering as a result.

It wasn't a big deal with Animated or the First Editions, because Hasbro actually gave a rat's ass and/or had a budget of more than $2 to try.

I really dislike it, but if its obvious that its not going to work at the size class I can deal with it. I dont understand it most of the time though since they deveop toys at the same time as the media. If a design isnt going to translate into a figure then why not modify it?

Id also rather they just skipped show accuracy and didnt try, unless its a key design element. FOC Jazz doesnt need fake wheels to look like Jazz.

Depends. If both the fake and real parts are visible at the same time (like Legends Movie Jazz and the Prime figures with the fake wheels) I dislike it, but if only one is ever visible (like Legends RtS Starscream and Animated Swindle) I don't mind it.

Put me in the camp of "I don't prefer fake parts but it doesn't overly bug me".

Allow me to amend my statement to: "...animate it well." Other than that amendment, yeah.

prime's going overboard with them. pretty much every mainline figure has a fake something or other, the most common case being fake wheels. fake wheels everywhere.

I dislike them, but not a lot. I consider it a bonus when toys don't cheat. Some faux parts are just straight up silly like FE Bulkhead's fake molded in wheels directly next to his real ones.

Toys first, then shows based on toys. Not the other way around.

    I deeply despise fake parts.

See FOC Jazz doesnt bother me as much because they try to cover 2 of the wheels. Its when the figure has like 2 extra wheels showing than alt mode that bugs me more. Even still its not that big of a deal.
