Go home, Lars. You're drunk! I've seen no end of CG done on television budgets. It never fails to look pasted in. Usually flat and grainy, too. I've seen some big budget movies fail similarly. The Farscape puppets may not have been perfect, but CG would have looked far far worse.
A lot can be done with CG... but if you want something that looks real, I mean actually real... it's got to be practical effects. It's all about suspension of disbelief right? If you can see a puppet as a character, it's actually a better choice even given it's limitations. Farscape was fantastic. Infact I've been watching seasons 3-4+ Peace Keeper Wars this last week.
Farscape was a great series that in addition to being interesting plotwise, broke the trend of aliens with facial prosthetics being 99.9% of the aliens.
Oh there is no great expanse of the mind the will cannot traverse nor physically the distance laid across the universe, there are blessings many in the stars save one lamented curse! That 16th Rygel, Glory me! Must Travel in reverse!!! There's a dance that goes with that too, but I can't do both at once... ..perhaps I should disrobe so this will be more memorable? Quoted. From. Memory! --- I'm cautiously realistic about that 'news' about the sequel, It just doesn't feel right. I'm still reeling from Peacekeeper Wars and the Comic series' conclusion. "I said that was the end of THAT story.. there are still plenty more to tell."
