Hmmn. Havn't picked Kup up yet so no idea.
It's a little clunky and obvious on Bumblebee.
But I think it worked well on XTB Cosmos.

The advatnage that Beachcomber has is that the parts that need to rotate are already on a raised segment that features a distinct boundary, so it's likely to be less noticeable than large gaps in the middle of a smooth panel like Bumblebee. If they can engineer that (and only FT can say if thats possible at this stage) it could work well. I'm not fussed either way as I rarely sticker up my figures and I always prioritise bot mode over alt, so would simply skip the bonnet logo. But if they can get it to work and not compromise the figure too much, it could be quite clever.

I was thinking of this same thing. Worked well with XTB Klaatu. It would not be possible to simply make the whole panel flip because the angled area at the top would end facing the wrong way. They could however, add a square piece that can flip around, using a hinge and a ball joint, or a hinge with a swivel joint.

Some good ideas fellas, but looks too complicated to be implemented. A simpler solution may be better and preserve the clean look. How about a white cover to go over that area in alt mode? Most display in bot modeanyway and it's just a optional bit of 'partsforming'. Plus it will look more like the animation model which has no split going through it.

    Lol there's always one!
Yes and I agree, Koot is way too over-engineered. And Bumblebee was a nice idea but he still ends up with a symbol on his foot that shouldn't be there! I think those and Klaatu are a lot less obvious than this dude though.
I'm interested to see how FT are going to paint him... the raised shield shape is grey/silver in alt mode but blue in bot mode. I'd prefer a way for both modes to be right, but I guess if I have to choose it's better for bot mode to take priority.

Hmmm, perhaps the part could be on an armature so it could fold up onto his back or something...

Or they could make the raised area of the hood removable. Slide out the pieces, flip to the deco'd side, and swap to the other leg. Completely optional, no kibble, and won't mar the sculpt. Not as elegant as Klaatu, and partsforming, but a fairly decent compromise IMO.

Meh. Koot was fine and the complaints about Bumblebee are overblown.

Partsforming? Come on, guys. It's Fanstoys. They're not gonna do partsforming. They're gonna have false hood panels on his shins that are blue all over with the white hood panels folding away somehow. That's just how they do things.

Huh, I didn't pay attention to that issue. I hope FT will take care of it (and I won't accept a cheap partsforming solution) otherwise I'll have to skip that figure.

Faction symbols placement seems to be a recurrent issue with FT designs (first Reflector design, first Blurr design, now this...). It's such a simple feature, it's weird to think a designer can forget to take it into account.

Yeah, I thought of that first, but then I saw the sunbow model and noticed the solid faction area on hood. Either way works. Don't get people and their distaste for parts forming, even when optional.

That is actually a good idea. It would be no more parts forming than the swap-able clear to solid parts on Koot. Totally, optional. The other idea I had is, if they made the hood out of diecast, then you could use a magnetic logo. Simply, stick in place, and remove when in bot mode.

Just buy 2... keep one in bot mode with a sticker on the chest and one in alt. mode with a sticker on the hood... problem solved with no additional engineering.

And never transform him? I'd rather have a transformable toy. Seems like a colossal waste of money to me.

If they can come up with some method of making the hood white in altmode, that's great, but if the changes required to accomplish that end up leaving the lower legs an inelegant, fiddly mess, then I'd rather they just leave the hood blue.

I like the way you did the Autobot symbol and silver around it on the legs.

They're not the only ones... At least we seem to have passed the phase of overdetailed surfaces making faction symbols awkward to apply!
Thanks, just following the character model. I don't usually do digibashes but happy how it came out!
Should it have a mouthplate like the toy?

Sucks, but not anywhere near a deal breaker. This guy will just not have an alt mode badge ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
