The whole Badcube vs. FT argument is ridiculous. Of course FT is going to be better, as it's had four years of industry development and refinement to work with. If it wasn't better, that would be the real surprise. Go back to the start of the Brawny thread and you see the exact same arguments being made for Igears Hench... and how many people have still got that in their collection? I like Brawny as much as anyone, but he does look dated now next to FT's render, and don't feel bad for Badcube... they got a reissue out of this mold, so this has already been a moneyspinner for them.

The only real subjective opinion which might come into play is whether you prefer the real world alt. mode of Brawny or the toy inspired mode of Hunk.

 

I will probably get it, but what is the release on this? I would have to compare in hand to see if Brawny will go on the chopping block or not.

 

I....kinda like it, but his head is a bit too small.

The thing that was always appealing about Brawn to me in the show was that he was very Dwafish in Stature (big head, small body), and super strong.

FT's version, he looks like a tall slender regular joe, and his head is much smaller, while his body is taller and more stretched out feeling to me.

But, I will not deny how clean the overall design looks in both modes.

 

That is a huge negative to this figure and their Beachcomber. Masterpiece has always had real world alt modes (where such modes existed). Even with the hyper toon accuracy trend that Takara kicked off, they've still stuck with licensed alt modes. 3p don't license their alt modes but they're still meant to be replicas and people complain like crazy (Maketoys Downbeat) whenever the alt modes deviate from the real life counterpart. I was a little disappointed that dx9's Powerglide wasn't a more accurate A-10, and I'm disappointed in FT's Brawn and Beachcomber for having toony alt modes. I may still get Brawn but I'm glad I've got Arkose as my Beachcomber - looks awesome in bot mode (albeit with a sizeable backpack) and perfect in alt mode.

 

It looks like this will have rubber tires unlike Brawny. Take note Badcube.

Maybe it's just the angle, but the head seems just a tiny bit bigger in this shot and better proportioned.

 

The head is actruly bigger now.

 

I didn't think I needed a better Brawn than Brawny. But apparently I do.   Well done, FT.

 

the facesculpt is different too and looks like they also rounded the side bits of the torso more

Urgh.....pure disappointment. I was prefering the previous design to the other Brawn's and had decided to go FT. This new design is a pass

Is incredible how Fanstoys improved the face sculpts. It was their weakest point.
