I wish he came with a swappable option to have a solid or clear windshield. I'm not sure I care for how the clear one looks myself :/

 

I can see where people might might like the look of the clear windshield, I'm not quite sure how I feel about it myself. But I'm not sure how it doesn't look like any G1 Kup. The cartoon was supposed to represent a clear windshield but animation limits how you can depict that. All the bots were drawn with opaque blue glass but it was clear what that was supposed to be and no one complained when all the MP figures had clear plastic. True, Kup's G1 toy was opaque but that seems like cost saving more than anything.

Yeah, I knew the "real" windshield argument would come into play. But honestly, as a cybertronian/future truck, why would he need a clear windshield. Not like we see humans in the cab.

Visually, the clear windshield is off. It doesn't look right in robot mode. And that is the mode he will be displayed in for most collections.

 

Its like UT's Blurr. He has a solid "windshield" on his chest and I just think it looks better. Someone got one from UT that either had a new design or something and it was clear. While not bad, it's not what I think of when I see Blurr. Same thing here.

FansToys would be wise to provide both windshield options. Make everyone happy.

 

They should have stayed with the original design. Easy pass for me. Happy for those who like it.

 

Rather than clear it would look better as frosted plastic.
That way you get the impression of details, but still get the windshield look they want.
For fans the colors would look closer to the cartoon.

 

Love the clear windshield. He'd look out of place on an MP shelf with an opaque windshield.

It'd still be clear, just frosted, as for MP.... Inferno and Grapple both have frosted Windshields

I need a little more blue grey like the movie. The test shot is too green toned in my opinion. Also would like a windscreen that is opaque frosted and makes the chest details more subtle.

 

You know I think you're right. A little more blue/grey to to it. This is a very greenish tone.
I think the colours we're looking for should be some ever so slightly washed out, varying shades of Teal:

 

It will be incredibly easy to paint the windshield whatever color you want including frosted.

Yes - that is what they have revealed. The problem is, Kup's palette varied GREATLY even only on the original Sunbow & movie materials. However, for whatever reason, I prefer the coloring when he was much more muted and even a bit pale - as much gray as teal. The colors on FansToys' Koot was the "last straw" for me. I regretfully am out.

Eh, most of us don't have access to industrial aerosol materials ... at least not ones that would look as good as those used in Asian factories.

I don't feel that problem was the decision to make the windscreen/chest clear - it looks almost as it should in vehicle mode and could be okay in 'bot mode. However, yes, white frosted or a non-detailed color behind it on the chest would make it look more like the media model. As it is, being transparent, all we see are those greebles that weren't on the media model.

 

No I agree, I guess I meant more the opening sequence, those iconic 15-20 min are what really geeked me up for Kup back in the day when I was a youngin' ... think I first saw the movie around '91-'92 so Cable/Bishop/Wolverine were the 3 guys I idolized around that time (along w/Rafael haha)

 

I thought the fight with the sharkticons was pretty bad ass and the demolition derby was his idea.
