I like the head sculpt - as a collector of all Rodimus toys, having some variations in the head sculpts is actually fantastic. I think it'll look better in color (digibashes help a bit, but I still think when the plastic is the proper color it'll be fine), too.

 

I'm not a big Hot Rod fan so it doesn't bother me all that much if I have it or not !!
The scale is wrong to me (my head canon) so I won't be getting this !!

I'm gonna wait for the modified KO MP-28 !!
There are rumors that it may be upscaled !!!
That version looks good enough for me, and if it's upscaled, definately the one I'll choose !!!
Also because the price will be about half the price of FTs  

And then I'll "have" what looks good and enjoy it !!!

That's arguably the worst alt mode going for a third party figure. Looks hideous.

Since when was Hot Rod short wheel base? They can't even get the proportions correct.

 

Yeah, it's nice seeing more pics of all these late 2017 projects. But still no news on Caesium? He should be ready soon...  

 

Head and face look perfectly fine to me.

 

Make the color match DX-9.

Don't hassle the Hot Rod.

 

Bot mode is awesome,vehicle mode is terrible from all angles..just horrible.Whats baffling is that despite the feedback and all the time they had to get it right since we first saw the CAD design,they didnt improve a single thing.

 

Needs slimmer exhaust pipes, the car's back end is WAY too vertical/flat, and the helmet is off.

Helmet---needs more of a ridge/crest up top---it's too smooth/bowl-like. Looks like an old-school leather football helmet/cap. Needs more of a "Mohawk" effect. And it comes down too low/too close to the eyes.

 

That nodule on the back of the noggin is kinda bugging me but I think I can get over it

 

Looks great to me! Only thing I think can be done better is slimming down the pipes. Face looks fine. Overall looks miles ahead of the TT Hot Rod. Can't wait to get this. Kup and Springer look great also. Springer does look a tad too bulky.

 

I'm happy with it. The proportions look much better than TT's. I actually think the alt mode looks fine, and I don't want to judge the face sculpt yet. There may be more options for it. Hot Rod is a fave for me so I may get this and the KO of MP-28. This along with Apache will be preordered. I like their Kup also, so maybe him too.

 

The FT head looks like it has too much helmet and is creating a bit of a shadow over his forehead. I do agree on the over head though. It definitely needs to be refined more.

Its odd but I feel like Takara's hands need to be swapped with FT's. TK's looks too big, FT's too small. If FT refines the forearms with the exhausts a little bit (smaller maybe?), it will look better. All in all, I like it and will be getting him with the hopes these two areas are cleaned up a bit more.

 

So far for me I still find MP-09 looks pretty good. Take away the scale issue and QC issues (which mine is flawless) and it seems to be the best all around Hot Rod. With that said I am still looking at possibly 'upgrading' to Hoodlum or the Black Apple MPP-28 version - should Wei Jiang actually make it. Possible MPP-28 Hot Rodimus?

I am waiting until I see colored test shots/price for Hoodlum or a perspective confirmed release for Wei Jiang one before deciding. At the end of the day I still feel comfortable keeping MP-09 should neither turn out to surpass what I already have. I think I am just going to have hard time getting over the clunky alt mode on Hoodlum. Not curved or sleek enough to evoke Hot Rod to me.

 

It looks great, I'm sold. If your not going to buy it....

 

Hmmm, I may be sold on this. All about the price tag now. Honestly, if they want to compete with Takara on this one, they should make it at least the same as the official or maybe even cheaper. That'll definitely get more people on board. Now they just need to make an updated MP9 with the darker color scheme and a better facesculpt. You reading this @dalianjj?

 

I'd like to see a better headsculpt and bigger hands, but overall it looks fantastic.

 

Robot proportion FansToys wins hands down, at least FT Hoodlum has better waist than HasTak Hot Rod. His leg proportion is win too.

Car mode they have their own merit. FansToys makes a sacrifice in fake chest part but I think it is an okay sacrifice by judging the Robot Mode.

Face... well... HasTak wins.
