Hopefully this Hot Rod's face won't be peeking at us from the undercarriage in vehicle mode.

 

It looks like with this design it's engineered to sit under the windshield/roof. Pretty much the only place for it since the legs go under the rear of the vehicle.
The chestplate and collar section on the false chest would rotate around and the collar section (hopefully)helps secure the torso.

It's of critical importance that FT makes sure the vehicle mode has full clearance to roll freely. That's arguably the biggest flaw in MP-28 and if FT's suffers the same problem I think it would lose them a LOT of approval.

Edit: I take it back, I guess the only place for the head to rest in vehicle mode is the rear of the vehicle since they included the vehicle interior. It's a nice touch, but with so little wiggle room in Hot Rod' fundamental design I question if it's really necessary rather than using the room for kibble "storage" or more engineering for a cleaner look.

 

I just want him to look how he does in the renders and be well made. Everything else eh whatever. I wouldn't even really care if he had no handheld gun since I loved in the movie how his exhausts were forearm lasers.

With regards to rodimus specific gimmicks I would like to see an entirely new figure in mp10 size with a completely self contained alt mode. DX9 did exactly that with carry but the stumpy forearms and weirdly long shoulders on carry drive me crazy I dislike them so much and I do wish he had the g1 movie colors too. Aka carry but better would be amazing, wonder if MMC would ever do that if FT don't.

 

Say, what if instead of pistols FT included blast/firing effects for the forearm guns?

 

This X a million, would be rad as heck.

 

No Matrix for me if I had a vote, at least not one that is made to fit in his chest. That's what makes MP-28 look like somebody that's standing on a corner trying to sell sandwiches. Fine if he wants to hold one but the chest needs to be more like the old MP Hot Rod/Rodimus.

Please make wider rear wheels for the alt mode, he ain't no damn hybrid car.

 

As it stands, there's really nothing that looks like it would get in the way of expanding the size of the rear wheels. Totally doable.

Yes. The only way I'd have the Matrix again was if it happened to fit with no design mods (which is unlikely).

 

Yeah pretty sure the MP-10 matrix is just too large to fit in a car-bot chest. Look what it did to MP-28. Even DX9 Carry wouldn't have been able to fit it. And to be picky, was Hot Rod ever actually shown with a Matrix chamber? I assumed he got it when he was reformatted into Rodimus. The only bots that were shown to have Matrix chambers without being a Prime where Ultra Magnus and Scourge I think?

They are different. Each of MP-28's guns is a reasonable interpretation of the original guns- just like the two small guns on MP?9? (old Rodimus) that form the big gun also bear a reasonable resemblence to the original guns (although they were light grey- not dark like the toy).

Not really. Just do what Toyworld did and do combiner centric pieces. That way you get height, uber solid joints and better proportions along with an individual team that scale together just right.

If you really want it all it's the only way to go and I'll not be surprised to see other companies follow their lead.

GB and Feral Rex aren't anywhere near MP, a combiner should tower over the likes of Skyfire and the Dinibots, not have a near eye to eye conversation.
