Size and heft. Grinder is larger and features more diecast, but beyond that the differences become more subjective. Grinder also lacks MP Grimlock's built-in gimmicks, though I imagine that many of these wouldn't be present in a MP Grimlock V2 if Takara were to ever decide to do that. (instead throwing in more scene reenactment accessories, maybe even a little crushed Thrust from the season 2 opening)

Engineering wise, Grinder is in a different league. He's on Stomp's level. MP-08 is significantly more floppy, especially during transformation. He's definitely ten years old.

Other differences include more articulation and significantly larger size in favor of Grinder. They also have Grinder's shoulders lower, so they aren't above his head.

Finally, Grinder with the replacement G1 head looks more like S1 Grimlock, whereas MP-08 is more movie in appearance.

Hi there, Could someone post pictures of Grinder with the reprolables set on (especially the teeth on the head). Sorry if this has already been shown as must have missed them. Cheers.

For MP-08 why did they go for the high shoulder look? Where did that design come from? I seem to recall later versions of Grimlock tending that way but it’s certainly not G1...

I don't think it was an aesthetic choice, I think it was done so that the arms would be long enough to serve as his legs in dino mode, but not look like monkey arms in robot mode. Fanstoys' solution was to make the arms/legs extend in dino mode.

Not sure what country you're in but most US retailers still have this for sale (or preorder).

I believe he's saying globally. Only the Hasbro branch in the UK did, and it's not just because of FT, but rather the KO of MPM figures.

Based on what he wrote in the other thread, no, he thinks the head is the issue here. Why Hasbro singled out Kapow, though, makes no sense...

i have to agree with treadshot a little bit here those gold parts between the shoulders and torso kill it in a normal pose makes it look a tad awkward , for me its still an upgrade from mp08 i like everything else with grinder incuding dino mode just wish the shoulders/arms were closer to the torso

And here I thought it had something to do with the barely functional gimmick of pushing down on him in dino mode to make the head tilt up...

That also may be the case. I just can't help noticing that if MP-08's shoulders were where they should be, his arms would likely hang down past his knees.

Aside from the hands, that was the next issue I had with MP08. The shoulder tops were just too high.

Ehhh... jeeze ... well I just placed an order for Grinder. $172.00 shipped. Thanks to all you folks who convinced me it was worth a purchase. Now to stay the hell out of these boards for a while. Dam enablers...

Can someone tell me where’s the best place to order the G1 grinder head ? The local guys all have it on either a preorder or a wait list . I’m thinking EBAY is my only other option .

I ordered mine from EBAY seller wuhanlipu. $20 with free shipping, and it arrived in just under 2 weeks from China.

Well, they'd probably have designed them to collapse a bit too, but that right arm also has the LED gimmick running all the way through it and potential wire pinching or ripping probably nixed that.

Dammit! I was perfectly happy with the stock Grinder dino head and wasn't planning on replacing it but I ordered a toon head anyway since now I'm scared they might dry up and what if I change my mind someday?

Look at it as an investment for when they do dry up.
