looks like an almost straight up copy of mp-08. of course thats the point if im not mistaken.
Except FansToys got it RIGHT. Grinder is a dream come true. Heck, all of their Dibots are.
Like the new head, really hope they include flat toes too.
OK I finally bought him now that I've seen the new head. Tipped the scales, well done!
Sure is. They've tweaked and improved a few things, but yes.
I'll never display mine with this new head, but I still want it regardless.
They should package it with a kite shield with a plaque so you can mount the spare head on your wall.
I get its accurate, but the old head looks more interesting, teeth look blunt on the accurate version also.
To each his own.
By the way is there a comparison anywhere showing all the versions of the FT dinobots? I'm a little confused over regular vs X etc.
I have Grinder and he's great but FansToys have had the benefit of 8 years of toy design evolution to get it right.
Much like MP36 vs MP05 given time and hindsight you can always get it 'right'.
MP08 is basically the platform that FansToys used to make their name.
How does Grinder look next to a GP dino?
I thought they were going to chrome out the neck. Lame
Will this one actually be able to look down???
The X version looks sick.
Probably somewhere if you google it, but if you go to somewhere like BBTS and search by one of the names (i.e. "Grinder" or "Stomp"), the resulting page should bring you to all the different versions of that character. Then you can click on each and see multiple pics of that version so you can see the differences.
Also, I never noticed this disclaimer on Grinder's page on BBTS. It's not present on any other FT figures. Just the 3 LE versions of Grinder:
"This aftermarket figure is not produced or associated with Hasbro or Takara and is not a Transformers brand toy. These custom pieces are intended to further enhance the enjoyment of your existing transforming toy collection."
At first I thought it was because Grinder looks so similar to an existing TT product. But it's not present on the regular Grinder page.
looks good, at least people have choices now.
Yeah so if I have this straight in my head:
FT-08: Regular Grimlock
FT-08X: Shiny chromed version
FT-08D: Marvel comic colours
FT-08G: G2 colours
Is that consistent with the other FT dinobots? X for chrome, D for comics, G for G2? Any other versions?
X would be the comic variant (Silver finish instead of grey, chrome has a blue-ish tint to it, red eyes)
D is diaclone.
For Grinder specifically I believe that is all the variants, but Soar and Scoria also have a T Variant which is in toy colors. Also soar has a Anime X version (blue chest) and a Toy X version (red chest).
Aaah I gotcha. Yeah I think it was the Soar blue/red chest that confused me the most.
Oh crap, I had no problems with the original head, but the new one is just stunning.... Might have to get it .....
