Just got this guy in due to the peer pressure, was hesitant since I already own MP-8 and Reximus. In bot mode, Grinder wins for sure in proportion and articulation. However, displaying in Dino mode side by side, Reximus is still more appealing mainly due to Grinder's head. Cartoon resemblance aside, my main gripe is that the back of the dino head looks like it's missing a chunk connecting to the neck, whereas MP-8 mold creates a more seemless transition. Another minor complaint about Grinder is that in Dino mode, he can only hold the upright Gozilla position or the flat back roaring position, any angle in between would cause him to tilt back due to the weight in his tail/bot legs. On Rex, the super tight ball joint allows more tilting angle. In the end, it's still a toss up between the two, Grinder for bot, Rex for dino (but I'm a 1-toy-for-character kind of guy). I'm really hoping to see what FT can come up with for the new G1 Dino head. Thoughts?

I think the whole "you have to be buying it to have an opinion" thing is a little iffy. I get that wasn't exactly your point, but that does seem to be some people's attitudes in a lot of these threads (that and the old gem "like what I like or get out of the thread"). As long as people are respectful, there's nothing wrong with with an honest discussion about a figure's good points and shortcomings. Again, I know you were really talking about the trolls and not respectful conversation/debate. Just wanted to add my two cents because thin skin seems to be a growing epidemic on these boards lately.

Anywho...I passed on Grinder during yesterday's ebay flash sale because I'm still not sure I need him. He looks great, and definitely scales better with the others than Rex does. But not sure if I can justify the cost to replace Rex. I'm not sure the aesthetic difference is commensurate to what it would cost me. I may wait until the updated dino head is shown to make a final decision though.

 

Just got mine in today....absolutely floored. Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese hurry with Cesium now.....

 

Yo Sixo, thanks for all the pictures. I just found the time to read the latest reviews on your blog. Superb! Your skills are second to none and show what a piece of art Grinder is and Phoenix most likely will be. I particularly enjoy the lovely little details in some shots. Like Bumblebee peeking out from behind Skyfire's leg...
